I think it comes down to whether you'd rather have Gordon or Favors. Nets' #3 pick is pretty comparable to Minny's unprotected pick. Harris and Kaman are both decent. And we'll probably get someone about Aminu's value with the Golden State pick.

Right now I'd rather have Favors because the hope of superstar big man is still there.

I believe this is his last year. Gordon will be an RFA next off season. He's guaranteed two years there. Likely more.

harris and kaman essentially cancel each other out talent-wise. KOC may say otherwise, but many view harris as a toss-in to the deal. same with kaman

aminu could turn out to be pretty solid, but is he a better piece than Kanter? good big men are usually more valuable.

gordon is a great player and one i would love for the jazz, but Favors has the potential to be even better.

then it comes down to Twolve pick v. GSW pick. those could end up being pretty close to each other by the end of the year.

i think both trades are pretty darn good. If the Jazz get to cash in on the GSW pick and get someone like MKG or Quincy Miller, I think I like the trade for the Jazz better.

This trade sucks for Clips unless CP signs extension. And even with extension this trade is meh.

I think it's a good move for the Clips. It moves them up a level as a team, and it gives them a chance to win over Chris Paul who won't have that many compelling options next summer. They have a good shot at getting in the playoffs and making the 2nd round, followed by a run in free agency. It's historic for them to get a major player in a trade.

I'm pretty sure I remember an article that stated CP agreed with the Clips to extend.
It was part of the deal, at least a prior iteration of it, otherwise the Clips would not have pulled the trigger.

I think he's taking the player option (4th year) on his current deal, not agreeing to an extension necessarily. If so, Paul would be in with the Clips for 2 years.

Clippers are in pretty good shape if Butler can stay healthy. They have a serious lack of depth on the wings after Butler it's Ryan Gomes, Willie Warren, and Randy Foye.

As part of the deal, Paul has agreed to not opt out of his contract after this season – allowing the Clippers to keep him at least through the 2013-14 season.

This was reported, by I believe this is incorrect. His option should keep him for this season and next. He should be a FA in 2013-2014.

I don't think highly of Aminu, but Gordon is definitely a Mitch Richmond type player. Can easily see him as the best player on a middling team, or second best on a great team.

I think the deals are comparable. The big difference is that Favors is still a bit of a unknown quantity with tremendous upside but no track record to point at, while Gordon has already established himself as an up-and-coming star. I really like Gordon; he'll be a multiple All-Star in my opinion and would be a solid #2 option on a very good team (and may well have been once he and Griffen hit their strides).

I think the Clippers may have given up too much, but we'll see. I'm just tickled pink that the Lakers didn't get Paul.

Apparently Sactown is courting AK right now. AK wouldn't be a bad signing for the Clippers who need some defense and passing next to Blake. I bet they go a bit cheap though, and don't make a long-term commitment. They paid for DeAndre Jordan and Butler, and they'll be capped out.

We'll have to see how it all pans out, but they're quite comparable.

If I had a gun to my head, I choose the Clips deal. Why? The proven player is also on his rookie deal (very cheap, very good, could still get better, legit rebuilding piece), Aminu could be a really nice piece, Kamen is a nice piece (though not a rebuilding piece), Minny's 2012 UNPROTECTED? This could be a #1 overall pick in a draft being heralded like it could be the next 2008, 2003, or 1996.

I'm sure he's actually stoked. He's got size to play the 2 and doesn't need to play with the ball in his hands either. Mo Williams is similar, but worse.

First he breaks up the Chris Paul trade to the Lakers, then Odom goes all cry baby about being in that trade and the Lakers have to ship him out for crap to the team that swept their butts in the playoffs, then Stern trades Chris Paul to their red headed step brother the Clippers. Fantastic!!

I think i'm leaning toward Hornets because they could potentially have two top 5 picks in a loaded draft next year.

I'm surprised the Clippers dealt Gordon, that guy is good and only getting better. Kaman is a solid big when healthy. I don't know about Aminu.

Than again the jazz didn't do that bad for themselves either, potentially getting a top 10 pick in the draft next year. We'll see how it turns out.

For me I would take the Utah trade. Why? Even though I like Gordon I think unless you have a top star big you don't win it all. We have that potential in our 2 bigs. NO has a borderline Allstar guard, an aging big, good sf, and the pick. We got in that trade two bigs, a top 10 pg, and another top 10 pick hopefully. Again bigs that are dominant win with the exception of 1 year with the pistons which they had a dominant big on defense

It was a good deal for the Hornets. So was ours. Who "wins" is all longterm. Favors/Kanter/GS vs. Gordon/Aminu/Minny? I'm not an Aminu fan, but that's pretty even. The only difference is Gordon is already a bona fide player so I'd give the Hornets the edge. As a bonus, they're now guaranteed to be a high lottery team so, in essence, they get 2 high lotto picks out of the deal.
