Haul for D-Will vs Haul for CP3

How awesome is David Stern. He has single handedly started the demise of the Lakers. First he breaks up the Chris Paul trade to the Lakers, then Odom goes all cry baby about being in that trade and the Lakers have to ship him out for crap to the team that swept their butts in the playoffs, then Stern trades Chris Paul to their red headed step brother the Clippers. Fantastic!!

I think i'm leaning toward Hornets because they could potentially have two top 5 picks in a loaded draft next year.

I'm surprised the Clippers dealt Gordon, that guy is good and only getting better. Kaman is a solid big when healthy. I don't know about Aminu.

Than again the jazz didn't do that bad for themselves either, potentially getting a top 10 pick in the draft next year. We'll see how it turns out.

For me I would take the Utah trade. Why? Even though I like Gordon I think unless you have a top star big you don't win it all. We have that potential in our 2 bigs. NO has a borderline Allstar guard, an aging big, good sf, and the pick. We got in that trade two bigs, a top 10 pg, and another top 10 pick hopefully. Again bigs that are dominant win with the exception of 1 year with the pistons which they had a dominant big on defense

It was a good deal for the Hornets. So was ours. Who "wins" is all longterm. Favors/Kanter/GS vs. Gordon/Aminu/Minny? I'm not an Aminu fan, but that's pretty even. The only difference is Gordon is already a bona fide player so I'd give the Hornets the edge. As a bonus, they're now guaranteed to be a high lottery team so, in essence, they get 2 high lotto picks out of the deal.

We'll have to see how it all pans out, but they're quite comparable.

If I had a gun to my head, I choose the Clips deal. Why? The proven player is also on his rookie deal (very cheap, very good, could still get better, legit rebuilding piece), Aminu could be a really nice piece, Kamen is a nice piece (though not a rebuilding piece), Minny's 2012 UNPROTECTED? This could be a #1 overall pick in a draft being heralded like it could be the next 2008, 2003, or 1996.

I think year the Wolves are going to be in the race for a playoff spot.

They have Rubio, Johnson, Beasley, Love and Darko. Ridnour, D. Williams and Anthony Randolph off the bench is a decent rotation.

I'm thinking NOR may have a worse record this year than Minny. They lost David West and Chris Paul. They may well be in the lottery.

In other words, they should have a great chance at having 2 high picks in a very strong draft. That's EXACTLY what they want for a team that's rebuilding. Kinda weird, but it almost looks like David Stern knows what he's doing. Who would thought.

IMHO I like what we got more then what Clips got for Paul although I feel the deals are pretty close. My opinion mainly hinges on Favors and his potential. I am also relieved that we didn't have to go through the circus that has been the Chris Paul trade race.

It'll be an awkward moment when David Stern or Adam Silver represent the Hornets at the next Draft Lotto. "The 2nd pick in the 2012 draft goes to... The New Orleans Hornets. *blush*"

*crickets chirp off in the distance*

They were atrocious last year and have made no veteran improvement whatsoever. Rubio was god-awful in EUROPE last year. They drafted a 4 for a team that already had one too many.

If they get better, it's because of Adelman, plain and simple.

Which deal would you rather take?

D-Will:

Devin Harris
Favors
Nets Pick (Turned into 3rd Overall)
GS Pick (remains to be seen)

CP3:

Eric Gordon
Kaman
Aminu
Unprotected Minnesota 1st

CP3 deal looks a little better doesn't it?

Another important question is do you think Deron would have the same value as CP3, league-wide?

Right now...
Gordon > Favors (but that could flip)
Aminu ~ Kanter (TBD)
Kaman < Harris (Harris glue, Kaman is serviceable but salary dump)
MIN ~ GS (TBD)

If DWill was traded to LAC:
Watson / Gordon / Hayward-Aminu / Millsap / Jefferson-Kaman
But he wasnt:
Harris / Burks / Hayward / Favors-Millsap / Jefferson-Kanter

So after looking at the above rosters, I like the NJ package cause of Favors & another potential bruising big w/ the Undertaker!

Too many unknowns...how good will Favors be? How good will Kanter be? How high will the T-Wolves pick be? (fwiw I could see Minnesota having a decent season).
Gordon clearly is the most establish piece and as mentioned by others...could be one of the two or three best 2-guards in the league within 3 years.

If I had to pick one of the two and I was a GM worried about job security, I would probably pick the Hornets' haul because of Gordon...but as a Jazz fan if could trade Utah's haul for the Hornets haul right now - I'd keep Utah's haul.

It all rests upon favors burly shoulders. If he reaches his potential, we are hands down winners. If not, I like their deal better.
