What's new

Haven't been on this forum since 2014. Just getting back into hardcore NBA fandom. Whats been going on with the team recently?

Taylor Hendricks was a top 10 pick last year, but I haven't heard anything about him in these Jazz previews. What's the scoop on him?

Flip is interesting. Good passer and guard skills at 6-11 will play 4-5 spots.
He was picked second round. Most mocks had him going early to mid 20’s. There was even arguments he could go lotto. Cy thinks he fell because of wing span which is a dumb reason to drop that far. I think he’s got a **** ton of potential as a Sabonis type with more range. Due to wingspan I think he’s more of a 4 though. He’s my favorite rookie from the 24 class

The main issue is whether he has the D to play C when coach wants to go 5 out and sit Kessler. If he can be serviceable in that role, he'll get minutes, especially if we can unload Collins during the season.

Cool so I assume George is the one people are anticipating breaking out?

Who's the most promising rookie?
Everyone will say Cody Williams. Not me. He’s athletic but looks clumsy maybe he needs to grow into his body a little he’s long and hella skinny. His handles are lacking. So he’s not going to do crossovers or take anyone one on one. He can shoot but he’s got a windup and can’t shoot on the move. Collier is a bit of an unknown to me not sure if I like him or not he’s big and explosive and can pass but he’s super turnover prone and doesn’t always take good shots.

I love Kyle Filipowski’s offensive game. People are hung up on him being primarily a 5 but I see him as mostly a 4 that can give minutes at the 5 we don’t need him there because of Kessler. His defense isn’t great but imo it’s also not bad as a 4. In college he was a good not great rebounder. As a 4 I see no issues with him being able to pull in 5-8 boards a game in a couple years probably between 6-7 a game.

I see a starting lineup in the future of:
Kessler
Filipowski
Markkanen
Key
?

I’m not sold on who the pg is. I’d like to say Collier will be the pg of the future but like I said earlier I’m struggling to get a read on what his potential is. At one point last year he was like a top 3 prospect possibly #1 for this last draft. But had an up and down season.

This season we will be eyeing the #1 pick which consensus says that’s Cooper Flagg. But we will see. The problem with getting the number one pick this year is the last two years of Jazz have tried to win then at the halfway point trade anyone that helps them win and then they lose a bunch of games and end up with the ninth or 10th, pick the question is will Jazz do a full tank or another half *** tank like the last two years this year.

Yes. When George was going good he looked every bit the part of a perennial All-Star, but when things weren’t going good, he was pretty bad and did a lot of sulking and had bad body language. He’s a gym Rat and is smart. I think he’ll be fine. He is very streaky with his shot though.

It'll be interesting to see if you are able to get back into it. Personally I detest the modern style of NBA basketball, so that combined with the Jazz sucking has killed my interest in the sport the past couple of years.

But that could just be me getting old. I think some genuinely enjoy the 3 point spamming, lack of defense, stupid gimmicks like the in season tournament, and the blatant tanking. If you like all this you'll be in heaven.
