Lol why did this thread start comparing Hayward's and AK's basketball skills?
Did any of you even read the original post?
I can see Hayward's Jazz career following AK's almost identically. Think about it:
-Both players were highly loved as they played second fiddle to veteran players
-Both players have well rounded games
-Fans starting believing they could be the #1 option on the team
-AK had a max contract and potentially so could Hayward...or close to it
-Both love to play video games.....probably too much
-Both players toughness and leadership are questioned
-AK ended up being despised by the fans and run out of town
-Hayward is on his way to the same demise
Is there any hope for Hayward? Can us Jazz fans just accept and appreciate him for the player he is?
We never should've gotten mad at AK for that contract. What's he supposed to do? Say he's not worth it and take less money?
We should've been mad at the Jazz for offering it to him.
The jazz didn't just offer him the max out of nowhere. Become informed man. There were articles after articles written about these negotiations.
The jazz offered him a nice contract in the $50-60 million dollar range. After Gasol's signing, all AK47 did was demand the max. He strong armed the Jazz. They either had to sign to the max the only recognizable face in the post Stock/Malone era or let him go and go forward into the future with... Matt Harpring? Carlos Arroyo? As the face of the franchise.
The Jazz were victimized. Even moreso after AK quit on himself and the team. He has even admitted that he didn't work as hard as he should have. I have no sympathy for that. I have no sympathy for anyone making vacation plans and working on visas while battling in the WCF.
If Hayward thinks he can get more money than the the jazz have offered him, then please, get the hell out. With the new CBA, fewer teams are going to be offering role players max deals. And if there are any who will pay Hayward Paul George like money, then have at it. Let them be the fools. They'll be regretting it in less than 2 years.
The Jazz were by no means forced to sign him to a max. It was a business decision, and they paid him too much. If I was AK, I would've asked for the max too. Not his fault we were stupid enough to give it to him.
You obviously didn't even read the previous post.
What if AK had actually worked on his game during the off-seasons?AK's a whatif.
What if AK was still the main man?
What if AK was the second fiddle to DWill and not Boozer? (or Boozer did not sign up with the Jazz?)
What if AK did not got injured so much?
What if AK had actually worked on his game during the off-seasons?
What if AK had actually worked out during the off-seasons?
What if AK had worked 1/2 hr more per day on shooting and 1/2 hr. less reading Russian novels?
What if AK had cared a little more about the playoffs and a little less about vacation/visa arrangements?
