Hayward --> Celtics ?

If the Jazz are in love with Mcdermott getting the Boston pick would be the way to go. Boston would finish in the 9-12 range once Hayward joins them. Mcdermott matches better with Burks, classic slasher/shooter wing combo.
The Jazz could also try and move up in the top 3 with Boston's pick. Looking at it in that perspective, we would essentially be trading Hayward + our own pick for Parker. And I think all of us do that.

If, and its a big if imo, they were to trade us thier pick for hayward then i could see our tank getting back on track and we end up with the 4th or 5th pick.
Golden state falls into the lottery and we get the 14th
Boston improves a little and we get the 9th or 10th pick from them.

Trade 4th, 14th, 9th, and kanter to one of the teams in the top 3 that need lots of help at multiple positions.

Or maybe the 3 lotto picks would be enough and we keep kanter.

Or if none of that is enough then 3 lotto picks to round out our team would still be pretty sweet.

All with the added bonus of not having to pay hayward big money.

Hayward's value is his versatility. He handles, passes, defends, rebounds, leads breaks, plays hard, etc. A versatile 6'8" player like that is always a valuable commodity. For some reason, his handle has been very loose and he turns it over too much, but if he were in a structured system, I think that would get cleaned up. He could be awesome in San Antonio moving the ball on offense like Manu used to. The Jazz are holding all the cards here. They have no reason to flinch on a low-ball offer. They can re-sign Hayward and trade him a year from now if they want.

Don't expect anyone to trade a top-3 pick this year. A team would have to fall in love with Randle or Exum enough to pass on Wiggins, Parker or Embiid. Don't bet on it.

We aren't getting their 1st round pick guys... It's says that they are reluctant on giving any of the 1st rounders that they have. I would say no to any trade that didn't involve their pick though. Hayward is way better then that. Just imagine them next year if they had Rondo, Hayward, and a top 5 pick. They would be good fast and we would be in an even worse position.

Making a trade that helps Boston improve does help Utah's chances of getting into the top 5 of the draft. There's some synergy there. I don't think the Celtics are going to climb the standings that much though. The bottom 8 teams are pretty set apart right now.

I agree
Bostons first or no deal

Even better

Also, if they put much protection on their pick, even if they do trade it, it won't help us as much this year.

Remember KOC was here when hayward drafted.

I do not think DL values him as was evident with no contract

DL values him, but just not at the price - whatever that was - that Gordon and his agent asked for. Jazz did put a contract offer on the table. Hayward wanted more.

Seriously, though, the "league source" could be the Celtic's hot dog vendor. When any team is losing, it's automatically assumed they have to "rebuild" and may accept draft picks for their better players. Jazz don't have to deal and I'd be surprised if this trade goes down. In any case, I'm sure DL would be smart enough to only accept a pick with ZERO restrictions. If Ainge wants top-3 protection, you walk away from the table. And for that reason, I think Boston does the same. They can always revisit a trade after the draft, exchanging the rights to their pick for Hayward.

Jerry Sloan was a big proponent for drafting Hayward. Obviously Paul George was on our radar too.
