Hayward excitement level

Mission Accomplished

Just wanted to check in. How is everyone feeling about our star right now? This is his time to shine if he was a player that is on the brink of ALL-Star status he should be keeping us in the mix. Any thoughts? I personally think that we should move him before he leaves us. I would like to see a starting lineup in the future of Exum, Burks, Hood, Favors and Gobert. I don't know who the Jazz could bring in for Hayward. Maybe Blake Griffin that is being dead serious I heard that they might move him since they are winning without him. Doc Rivers is a big Hayward fan. So, that might be a nice deal.

Here is my blockbuster trade idea https://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=jjd649v

I'll bite.

Hayward is key if we want a future.

I think he is sick of having no one around him and other teams being able to take him out because we have no one else.

Look at Leonard from the Spurs. Swap him with Hayward and I bet you Hayward does better on the spurs and Leonard worse on the Jazz than Hayward.

Perspective.....

I don't mind losing Hayward if we can get something better in return, but I don't think that will happen. Therefore we should just keep him for now. btw, your trade is horrible.

He is still our best player and demands the most attention on offense from the other team. No one on this team spreads the floor more than he does. He is the main reason we are in the playoff hunt. He is holding together a really bad team right now with Favors, Exum out and Hood and Gobert in and out.

That said the only way this team takes another step forward is if we get one of Exum, Hood or Favors to become better than Hayward. Personally I think Exum will and I think Favors and Hayward will be on the same level next season. If we get a healthy team next year with a little playoff experience and an upgraded bench in FA I see this team competing for the 3rd seed. If that happens and we see growth internally and a commitment to winning from the FO Hayward will resign. The season after that is when I hope Exum really develops and we have a team that might compete for a championship. Being a championship team, especially a small market team is partially luck though with players developing and staying healthy. We are on that track I hope it continues.

What a bold statement! Who do you mind losing even if you get something better in return?
Yes it is a bold statement! Thanks!
To answer your question, say if we traded Favors for Cousins straight up I wouldn't like that trade even though Cousins is a better player.

I feel the same way I have always felt about him.

I like him allot and think he is a really good player but not a franchise star max money type player.

Is Hood ready to be the focal point of the offense as well as the primary creator?
For me, I was really hoping to see him take a big step in that direction this season so we could finally close the chapter on Hayward being the focal point of the Jazz offense and all that face of the franchise crap...Unfortunately, it's not happening right now so Hayward is still the guy we need to rest our hopes on.

Hayward is who he is. I think he is ranked about #35 in the NBA.......which is about right.

It would be great to get a Top 10 player, but who ?

Jazz philosophy is to have a team as our strength.

Tough to do with at least 3 starters starting that should be bench players.....

He's been playing really good this season. Right now he's playing with two rookies starting, a 22nd year player, and withey. He has to carry a lot of the team in many aspects.

He is if you don't have anyone (or have a with reason chance at obtaining) else better to pay.

Hayward is a good player but he's not THE guy...not someone who carries a team consistently. We need more offensive stars, and the injuries to our other core players hasn't helped.

if he was a player that is on the brink of ALL-Star status he should be keeping us in the mix.

In extremus: Neto/ Hood/ LeBron/ Lyles/ Withey: No way this lineup be "in the mix"?

Look at the age and talent on this team it is pretty amazing where we are. Would you add a few wins by replacing Gordon with a top 20 player? Sure. But look at Houston with 2 "superstars" -- they are one place ahead of us.

It is bizarre to single out our best player for this discussion. Not having a superstar, therefore you get rid of a top 40 player? The Sixers did this with Igoudala. Not enough of a superstar, criticize and then trade him. Silly strategy, predictable outcome.

For the record: my Hayward excitement level: 8.5 on scale of 1-10. Gobert, Favors, Exum, Hayward, Hood in 2-3 years, we are a top 4 team if we add the right pieces (even if one of the pieces is not a "superstar").

Still on the DL bandwagon.

Chemistry is so important. IMO it is the Gulf that separates GS/SA from Hou and other teams with superstars that are mediocre. SA doesn't even have a top 5 player on their team. And they stole Kawai at #15. I would say that is equal to trading Gobert for cash.
