What's new

Hayward has agreed to an offer with Hornets

Explain yourself sir. Sorry to say I can read the future and whatever you blurb is about to make no sense.

Jazz said they will match. Making bad decisions on contracts affects the team. What if it interferes with resigning Kanter and Burks? Or some other free agent next year?

What the Jazz pay their players does matter. If you can't see that then that's your loss.

2014/15 salary

Steph Curry: 10 million
Nic Batum: 11.7 million
Demar Derozan: 9.5 million
Paul Millsap: 9.5 million
Goran Dragic: 7.5 million
Jamal Crawford 5.4 million
Gordon Hayward: 15 million??

Playing devil's advocate here... If the Jazz let Hayward walk, who do they sign to replace him? They will not get any free agents to go to Utah that are anywhere near the player that Hayward is, so do the Jazz just hope that Hood or an undrafted summer league guy will be enough, and then hope for a good wing in next year's lottery? Again, I am on the fence about Hayward's value, but what do you do as an organization if you let him walk?

Alec Burks, you know, that guy on our team who is really similar to Dante Exum, but less talented and less intelligent. We can overpay him next year when we feature him in a larger role and a team like the Hornets signs him to a huge offer sheet.

Why? It's not like he took a smaller contract for the team. He just didn't feel like risking as much as Gordon did.

Cause he signed when asked, he makes an effort to show that he's cool with playing in Utah, he has more potential to be worth his contract.

IF the Jazz re-sign Hayward, I can guarantee we trade Kanter or Burks this year.

You know this how?

Players don't give discounts if they play on one of the worst teams in the league. Also, his agent surely would have made it known publicly that Favors was giving them a discount and thus a "team player."

Of course I don't "know" that Favors didn't give the Jazz a discount, but I didn't suggest that we should "Like" favors more now. For all we know Favors and his agent are kicking themselves for not holding out longer.

Wojo just tweeted that the Jazz were expecting this and plan to match

That's what I am saying. This deal affects us negatively so why should anyone be happy for Hayward if you are a Jazzfan?
