Hayward to Boston

Agree with everything except the consider trading Rudy part. No way in hell the Jazz should look to trade Gobert. Everyone else is fair game though. If we tank, we tank with Gobert. He's irreplaceable. Plus, he loves this team. This is now his team and he will rise to the occasion. He was always the leader of this team and this cements it.

I agree in theory but the reality is that, as great as Gobert is, there are disadvantages to re-building around him (considering our current talent level). I would only contemplate doing so if the offer justified it, but his contract would essentially limit our window to the length of his contract (unless you're 100% confident he will re-up regardless-which is possible).

Also, his (& co's) talent likely keeps our future picks in the 14-20 range, unless we completely gut the rest of the team, which I'm still not positive even propels us to a top 5 or even 10 pick(s).

As much as I want to see Gobert retire a Jazz, unless you're sold on Exum, Hood, & Mitchell developing into impact players, I don't see how we acquire the elite talent necessary to eventually compete for a title without flipping Gobert for multiple top-tier assets.

Again, you only consider it if it's an offer you can't pass up. That being said, as long as they rebuild (semi or complete), I can live with it. I just believe we are now in a position where swinging for the fences is likely our best/possibly only shot at getting that championship.

So is there such thing as a tpe anymore? Seems like it changed in the new cba.

It's been said, but my beef is that he gave a big eff you to the jazz franchise by dragging things out. We could have gave a chance to land a legit player. Tons of guys were moved for cheap.

Not cool to Rudy, Dwill sucked, but because we knew Koc for a reasonable haul. Hayward left us a condolence letter.

Its like it was pre meditated to screw us over as much as possible. I feel like I misjudged his character.

You are embarrassing yourself. Its not 'a fact' when you base your arguments on 'what if' (if DL had drafted X player, had traded for PG, had done this or that). Those are not facts just conjectures.

Why do you want to place the blame on DL? He has done a great job in building this team. Not offering the 4 max seems like a mistake in hindsight but you need to be fair and remember the context: GH was coming from a disappointing season as 'the man'. He was unlikely to get a max offer. At the time it was also uncertain he was going to become a franchise guy. It could have been AK47's contract mistake all over again. Also no one on the league (GMs, players and agents) imagined that the jump in cap space would make any contract at the time look like a bargain a couple years later.

Anyway, stop trying to blame one side and calling 'facts' hypothetical situations. Jazz management and coaching staff did a terrific job in assembling this team. Hayward just decided to leave for his own personal reasons.

Lol. So DL didn't send Hayward out to find his own deal?

I kinda want to trade our entire roster to the east for draft picks. Rudy to Cleveland for a 2021 and 2023 first Thompson and shumpert, who we flip (**** you Hayward). Then trade the rest to Brooklyn for their players and spite. (**** you Danny Ainge).

Get a top 4 pick every year for the next 3. I can root for Cleveland for a few years. Rudy gets a ring. Celtics assets evaporate. A few years fro. Now the Jazz are loaded with promising talent that is locked up longterm just as the Warriors are beginning to crack.

You know none of this as if it's a fact.
He might have wanted to go to boston and his one and only true love Stevens no matter what the jazz did.

If we signed him to a max deal, he's still here for one more year and Boston doesn't have cap room next year.

Everyone seems to skim over that fact.

I understand being angry and disappointed.

Some of these comments though.

Seriously ?

I hope you guys are just playing around.

I'm not that upset that he left , more so how Gordon chose to string this out !

He was never going to take us to the promise land , sure he hit a few game winners , but there were a lot of games where he looked to the heavens , eyes glazed , pressure building on the shoulders .

If you take away Joe Johnsons performances in round 1 we don't win that series.

When Rudy went down , it was time for him to stand up and he didn't , joe Ingles in game 1 did , Favours had moments , Joe Johnson as mentioned .

To string out a great organisation , a fan base that only wanted the best for you , even though you weren't as talented as we all hoped , won't be forgotten .

For your immature wife to post silly photos of the kids in Boston green a week before free agency opened , showed the world we are dealing with 20 something year olds, not the man to take us to the promise land.

I guess I like to think most players that are on our team have the desire , heart and class as John Stockton.

You my friend don't eve come close to Greg Ostertag

Thank god we have Rudy

If we signed him to a max deal, he's still here for one more year and Boston doesn't have cap room next year.

Everyone seems to skim over that fact.
They make room. He bounces next year.

That was easy

I became a jazz fan in 1995, as I was 10 years old. A year later, as my face was full of acne, I experienced the joy of them being in finals. All my friends here in Germany were on Bulls/Jordan bandwagon and I was a kind of a outsider but it made me feel special. I loved the humble approach of Stockton and Malone and the Jazz franchise. I remember; while watching the last seconds of a finals game, I couldn't leave TV and missed my subway to school and even my mom was shaking her head my dad said "ok, I pay for the taxi". I remember the day NBA league pass was made available in Germany and I worked extra hours after University to afford it. I remember how I choose my classes at the latest hours possible, because I stood awake till morning to watch Jazz. In 2009, my company send me to Las Vegas for a convention, it was first time for me in the USA and even the convention last just for 5 days, all I hope was that jazz pass Lakers in playoffs so I can fly to Salt Lake and see a Jazz game, after the convention.(Jazz lost 4-1, so no Jazz game for me). 3 years later I was send to San Diego for training. This was my chance! 2 months in USA during NBA Season, so I should be able to see a Jazz game right? But my schedule was so packed and in these 2 months I just had a week of free time. Other europeans in the training flew to San Francisco, New York.., some even flew back to Europe! They couldn't understand why I was desperately trying to go to Salt Lake City. Jazz were on a road trip but I had a plan. Then there was an option. Jazz were playing in LA agains Lakers. I went to LA for a day and my dream came true. To this day it was my only Jazz Game. No-one even understand why I did not stayed there longer and didn't go to Hollywood, sightseeing etc. But I did not care. All I wanted from LA was seeing my Jazz, the team, that my dad agreed to pay for taxi, even though he wasn't sure if the people from the bank would knock on our door at the end of the month. All I want to say; Jazz will, of course loose players and sign other players. I will cheer for those, who are there(I cheered for Raul Lopez!) If Hayward wants to leave, its ok. I identify my self with Jazz, it is a part of me, it is part of my growing up. I feel Hayward disrespected the Jazz with the way he left and I will boo him if he plays against us,even through a monitor and just by myself. GO JAZZ! (sorry for my bad English)
