Hayward

I've noticed quite a bit more Hayward hate in the fandom recently as well as seen his name mentioned more often in trade scenarios and what not, and it's left me a bit befuddled. Earlier this year Hayward gambled that his play this season would make the next step and he would earn a big pay day. Most, I believe, have seen that has not been the case and Hayward will probably end up signing for closer to what the Jazz were offering than to what he was asking for. While it's a bummer he is probably not going to become a great player, he is still a good player we'll probably get at a good price.

New thread worthy.. for SURE!

Luv u tho.

Around here? Yeah I think it is, discussion around this place has fallen off sharply this year ;) I have just encountered a lot more animosity toward Hayward this year and figured why not make a thread about it, rather than respond to dozen posts in half a dozen threads? I am not trying to get a 40,000 post count here after all...

Hayward isn't going anywhere. The problem is, the Jazz hyped him up all summer long, and fans and Hayward built him up to better than he was. He is a nice player, who won't get any offer to leave Utah.

hayward should have taken that 10mil.

Agree ... Hayward is a good all-around player, borderline All-Star, who probably would make the All-Star team next year if he played in the East. But I doubt he will be a super star, good second / third option.

I think he can only blame himself. Had he just played Stockton's card and quietly taken whatever Jazz were offering nobody would be scrutinizing his every turnover or bricked shot. But since he showed ugly side of greed behind that baby face we have right to get on his *** as much as we want.

I'm okay with this.

"Ugly side of greed" Really? This is the kind of attitude that prompted me to create this thread. How exactly is trying to earn a pay raise greedy? Millions of people do this every day when they go to their normal jobs, are they greedy for trying to get a raise too?

Hayward is supposed to be a complementary player, a set-up guy, and a 3rd option on offense. He's still those things, but I'm amazed his handle is so loose and he's been so turn-over prone.

I agree with Deron. Hayward good at everything, great at nothing. Maybe great @ defending 1's and 2's I guess, but that's it.

Millions of people do not get paid 10mil a year for playing a game with 3-5 month vacation time - big difference my friend.
See Stockton and how he handled contract extensions. Hayward had a chance to be the most loved and cherished player after John and he wasted that chance.

Hayward isn't greedy, nor has he done anything ugly. Why is it okay for the Miller Group to make it so you can't buy cars on Sunday and put pressure on the legislature to shut down their competition, threaten to move the Jazz if they don't get their way, but Hayward is the "ugly side of greed"?

Unreal.

Hayward did nothing wrong but believe the hype. He has ever right to get his because the Miller's are getting their's off his play.

And the Miller's screwed Stockton out of millions. So, that's ok? The big corporations screw the little guy, and that's ok...

Getting paid his market value is not greed.

If you were selling a house that you had a lot of equity in would you sell it for what it was worth or would you sell it for whatever amount someone decided to offer you for it?

Every damn interview with Hayward started with "Are you ready to lead this team?" It's no wonder he thinks he should be paid more than Favors.

Well, that would depend upon who is offering. If he/she is a stranger, then yeah, I would ask for every dime I could get. But if he/she is a close family member, then it wouldn't bother me to loose some of the equity.

I dont think its what he did as much as how its compared to how Favors handled his situation.

Favors is an athletic big man with HUGE potential. He has all the opportunity to screw us over but didnt.
