Hayward didn't get the Brinks truck when he wanted it and didn't deserve it, so he took those hurt feelgoods and bottled them up deep deep inside, put on his phoney "I'm happy" face, and let things boil for years just waiting for the chance to stick it to whoever it was that hurt his feelings. Gail, DL, Gobert, the entire Utah fanbase, or whoever it really was. He actually worked hard at his game, but not to get better necessarily, but to stick it to someone. He should be thanking whoever this was that gave him a good dose of reality for giving him some sort of chip on his shoulder to motivate him, rather than letting it turn him into Goob from Meet the Robinsons. Being told "you're not good enough yet for that much moola" is better than lying and saying you are when you're not.

I do though find it pretty gul durn hilarious when ijazz reads a post from someone screwing around and says that poster is the reason Hayward left, Gobert will leave, and other absurd stupidities. Like a few halfhearted boos directed at Hayward because of his extremely selfish and intentionally harmful actions are the reason things happen. Jazz fans are pretty energetic at times, but most are nowhere near as abusive or vindictive as other places.
