Hollinger's Thoughts on what it take to be a contender

Maybe we should start by getting a 20ppg scorer on the team.

As far as this year's draft is concerned, I think Quincy Miller is the closest thing to Tracy McGrady in this draft. People are criticizing him for what he can't do, but they should give him credit for the things he can do, which is handle, create space, shoot from mid-range and score in a variety of ways. That's rare for a player 6'9" or 6'10". I'd still like to see the Jazz get him.

Harris runs the PnR?

Not sure if serious.

Ok, a bit of an exaggeration. But, we almost never ran the PnR last year. I'll bet Hayward ran about as many PnRs and Harris did. Probably ran them better too.

Teams always need shooters, that's true. And the Jazz are a team that REALLY needs shooters. But, I'd by far prefer an upgrade at PG for Jack than an upgrade at SG for Korver (for instance).

Hayward had a really high TO % in the pnr. Harris runs it decently. His main big men are Sap and Jefferson. Sap can pop, but he isn't a great roll man. Jefferson can pop, he can't roll. Harris had some nice pick n rolls with Favors.

I like the Lakers and Mavericks models --- strong interior defense and rebounding, a player that can create mismatches and make big shots (while getting to the line), and solid role players with strong coaching.

The Heat have superstars, but their interior defense and rebounding are pretty weak. They also can't score in the paint. They just don't look like a championship team to me.

paul millsap is becoming what AK was for the previous 5 years in jazz history: a player who is vastly underrated by even his own fans.

not comparing them at all as players... that's an apples/oranges mistake right there.

just comparing the way jazz fans completely fail to recognize their value.
