What's new

Honestly, why are we winning games at this point?

You mean the team that won’t more games than any other or the year after? That team that was the top team in the playoffs was a pleasure to watch. The year after was poop
Neither team was the top team in the playoffs. The top team in the playoffs finishes with a huge trophy and some rings.

We traded 4 rotation players, including 3 starter level players, we haven't had our starting point guard since before the all star break, our starting shooting guard has missed 8 of the last 9 games, and our best player sat last night. Through it all we just keep winning. I'm not really sure what more we can do to try and lose at this point.

Some people will look at all that and someone think that what you just posted shows that the jazz organization has been trying hard to win every game.

I enjoy this one more than either of those two. Both seemed like paper tigers. Way too much fire in the belly with these guys to not get excited most nights. Vivent is a wild place this year, for good reason.

I would argue that when healthy we should definitely be a top 4 team in the west now that our young guys have gotten some good experience. Look at Denver, Phoenix, Golden State, Dallas, Sacramento Memphis etc. If all teams were healthy, I could argue that only Phoenix might be better.

Also, its not a forgone conclusion that we lose in the playoffs. Get everyone healthy and we can put pressure on a team like the nuggets or grizzlies or kings. Put some pressure on them and maybe they play tight while we have no pressure and nothing to lose. Also injuries could happen to the opponent. The opponent could go cold at the wrong time and we could get hot.

One thing this team has taught me is not to count them out of any game against any opponent. I believe we have the most amount of games decided by 10 points or less in the entire league. Our net rating is on the plus side (though barely)

Maybe this team does something epically historic.

I'd be some way surprised If this team won a playoff series - tho we are at where we are, doing things we're doing down 2 or more players - let alone more than one. And at this point if we make the playoffs we should do It from the play in, or 6th seed at best

But also totally believe they being able to give a run for their money to any team in the west, making It at least a hard earned 6 games series

If the Jazz get more good shots than their opponent, they ought to win 90% of those games. Key is defense, limiting turnovers and getting O and D rebounds.

I'm sure this has been brought up a bunch, so sorry for beating a dead horse. But after unloading assets at the trade deadline and after a few losses a few games ago, I'm stuck with the question of why we're winning. Which is better: having a better lottery pick, or making the play-in tournament and losing right away or maybe in the first round of the playoffs, so that all of the young players and the young coach get some limited playoff experience?

I think a better lottery pick would be the way to go. If this rebuild goes right and we hit on at least a player or two in this draft (which is more likely with a higher pick) then we won't be back in this same position, even next year. This is THE draft, from what I've been hearing forever -- so why not get the very best picks you can by dropping our remaining games this season? We're not winning the title this year, so what are we doing here?
I could argue that you just lack faith in the names on our roster.

I would also love a higher pick, but also I cannot hate us winning... especially with the way all the young guys are contributing to it.

The tank hardliners won't be happy until we're trotting out the Stars starting lineup out there.
