You cant say the people who are trying to preserve what this country is all about are the ones who hate it.
Yes, there have been many episodes in our nation's history in which anti-immigrant bigotry(not necessarily racial as you seem to think, incorrectly) has been at the forefront politically. As but one example, the Nativist Party(aka, the Know Nothing Party) was quite successful for a time in the 1850's. And they hated the Irish, the Germans, and Roman Catholics. Bigotry is not always race-based.
People today, trying to preserve bigotry in America, truly hate America. For them, bigotry apparently is what they wish their country to be all about. Let's hope they remain a minority.
Again, has nothing to do with race. Its so weak to throw that argument out there every single time your logic breaks down.
Yes, as I noted above, sometimes this bigotry, this anti-diversity, is not directly tied to racial animus. As another example, we also saw pronounced anti-Eastern European, and anti-Southern European bigotry/intolerance in the late 19th/early 20th century time frame.
The hatred embraced by Trump and his followers may indeed be what America is all about. It certainly has been episodic in our history at least. We'll see how long this particular episode of such intolerance lasts.
