Hood traded to Cleveland for Crowder; Johnson to Sacramento

Royce seems like more of a 3/4 than a 2 to me. Listed as a small forward. Hood more of a shooting guard imo (as is burks). I guess we will see what happens.
Either way I like the trade.

Lol.

Royce is a wing. He's not playing the 4. Dude is 215-220 pounds. He's a wing, just like Burks is, just like Hood is.

Most people whining about Crowder (mainly in the deadline thread) because he's having an off-year in dumpster-fire Cleveland. Enjoy the crow.

And it's funny to me not one person on this board has mentioned Crowder's defense VS Hood's....

Yep, Cleveland had a ****** offense, and poor defense. If we can get the Boston version of Crowder (lock down defender, good spot up shooter and rebounder) we came out way ahead.

My biggest issue with Hood is his lack of passing (seemed to slow down the offense) and his inconsistency on both ends. I personally like Crowder better.
There was likely a 1% chance of Hood walking for nothing. There is very little money for FA this year, which is why sweet Lou took a deal for 8 m a year. Utah likely could have signed Hood pretty cheaply. All things considered, this trade has the possibility of being good or slightly bad, but not some disaster.

If nothing else, Utah traded for the guy who broke Haywood's ankle. So that's a plus.

We'll see what Hood gets in the offseason. I personally like Crowder better. I think in the long run this was a good trade for the Jazz.

I also wasn't a huge Hood fan. He was inconsistent on both ends, and I feel like he didn't look to pass (Iso Joe, who I also think of as slowing down an offense averaged more assists per minute than Hood. And he gets hurt, a lot.

Crowder hasn't had a good year, but a year ago he was considered one of the best contracts in the league. Utah is likely a better situation for him than Cleveland, so if he can revive himself somewhat, he still could bring back a decent pick in the offseason, or Utah could just keep him.

I was hoping for a decent pick coming back, but this isn't bad. Of all the players that were rumored to come back in a Hood trade, Crowder was really the only one worth consideration.

Also, for anyone who wants to complain about this move, you better not be one of the dweebs who was booing Hood. I think there's a possibility that Hood requested a trade and this was the best DL could do at this point in time.

In the future, I hope Jazz fans learn to keep their ****ing mouths shut when they feel like booing a player.

If Hood was that butt hurt about being boo’ed one time at a home game, oh well. I agree with you- the boo’ing was moronic, but Utah is far from a hard place to be an NBA player.

I like the deal for two reasons: We didn’t let Hood walk for nothing and we got a player that I think will fit seamlessly into Utah’s Defensive culture.

ok. I have seen many people talk about him as a small ball 4 but whatever.

I have a hard time not seeing this as trading a 3-8 depending on contract for a solid 6. Just lock yourself into cap flexibility and mitigate downside plus better roster fit. Hard to complain about this unless you think Hood is a lot better than I do.

He's not. Don't know who has said that, but he's not.

From what I can find, he has maybe a 6'10 wingspan. That wingspan, plus he weighs 220 max...he's not a small ball 4. Maybe, maybe, maybe you could play him there for spot minutes, but I highly doubt it.

Just for reference, Burks is 6'6 with a 6'10 wingspan, listed at 214. You gonna play him at the 4?

I like Crowder so I like this trade. Maybe the Jazz could have got more, but who knows. I think he'll thrive here as long as his head is on straight.

Love this deal.

Hood was our worst defender this year by a mile per that chart someone posted a week or two ago. His percentages aren’t anything special on offense either. Maybe slightly above average. And he misses a lot of games each year and will likely get a contract that surpasses Jae’s on an annual basis.

In Crowder, we added what we need and covet. A stretch 4 (though I feel like he struggles some there—can anyone disprove that?) option who plays above average defense and brings some nastiness.

Dump Burks and every guy on our roster can bring the d. If we can land a long stretch 4 who can shoot and play d, and maybe play some 3 too (I guess that’s Jaren Jackson?), or get a long 3 who can do it all, we could be loaded.

+1. Unless you like Hood a lot more than I do we basically turned him into a relatively comparable overall talent player at 3/4 instead of 2/3 and signed him for 7m for the next two years. I don't really get how that's not pretty great.
