What's new

Hood went from number 1 option...

Very fascinating that anyone who thinks it is rigged is still a fan. Cant sort that one out. Stars get calls they shouldn't, home court influences officials, etc etc. But if I thought it was rigged I would not be a fan. What would be the point?

I think people more often than not view it as a very black and white issue — either it’s the WWF where in some back room Stern and Silver are conducting a seance with chicken blood and cow semen while predetermine gets the outcome of the 2023 finals, or it’s a 100% above-board production run by an altruistic commitment to integrity.

I think the most common narrative is that, yeah, bogus stuff (calls, bias, and favoritism) happen sometimes, but it evens out and ultimately doesn’t have much appreciable effect on season outcomes — and that said outcomes are wholly dependent on the players and coaches.

What baffles my mind is that many people can accept, and even endorse, ideas that we live in a country with institutionalized racism and descrimination that has drastic and far-reaching consequences on individual human potential, but completely balk at the idea that a massive, for-profit enterprise could ever throw its influence into the equation on things that have a very real, tangible, and immediate return.

Hill, Hood, or Joe Johnson could win it all this year. JJ is probably not coming back next year after the huge drop in his PT and production. Hood will be lucky to get a decent offer in FA, but will definitely not be back with the Cavs. Hill may have the best chance to stick around for a bit depending on how he plays in the finals.

SMH timing is such a funny thing.

Hill was given a stupid contract by the Kings. They basically bid against themselves. I don't see anyone wanting to trade for Hill's contract. Even if Lebron leaves and the Cavs go into a rebuild, it will be tough to trade him.

JJ is done. He really fell of the cliff this season.

As for Hood, I'm just shaking my head. Not sure what happened. He was a decent shooter and I remember he could get inside a bit, keep the opposing player on his back and shoot that 10-footer. Now he becomes known as a malcontent. Not sure who takes a chance on him.

Hood should sign a 1 year deal and average 18-20PPG as a tank commander with no pressure. Then maybe some desperate team would give him a big deal.

I know. Things could not have worked out worse for Hood, and yet, and yet, he has an outside chance at a ring (for riding the pine.) I really don't think the Cavs win against either of the teams out of the West, but with LBJ who knows. Would a ring not just sting even more if you get it this way? I think it might remind him of the nightmare of the season. He might just take it to the nearest pawn shop, and trade that sucker in.

Heard this on Open Floor;

"Hood playing himself into MLE money to sign with GS in the offseason"

tongue in cheek but interesting.

GMs around the league aren't going to look at Hood's last few months in Cleveland, ignore his previous 3&1/2 years in the league, and decide he's not even worth the full MLE. He shot nearly 39% from deep and averaged nearly 17 ppg for us this season, and is a career 37% three-point shooter. Teams are always looking to add a shooter, regardless of what other skills they have - or lack. He'll get paid. He might not like where he ends up or the role he plays, but he'll be paid.

Plus he's 6'8... 6'8 SGs don't grow on trees.

Hood will get signed by the warriors next year for peanuts. Dude's at least a huge upgrade over Nick Young
