What's new

How are we number 8 in these power rankings???? Seriously?????

I'm glad that we got Jefferson/Bell. I mean something had to be done after losing our starting PF and our sharp-shooter in Korver. I just find that it is going to be harder to replace Boozer than originally anticipated, that's all. Again, I could be completely wrong, not arguing that, but what I believe right now is basically this: Boozer > Jefferson

I think I can see what you're saying, but a guy like Jefferson playing with DWill and in Jerry Sloan's system is going to dominate.

We have a lot of reason to beleive that Jefferson will flourish here. Most players do. One of Jerry's strengths is doing very simple things to make enough of an advantage to make a difference. While i don't want to ruin the kool-aid drinking party by mentioning sloan, i think we can all agree that the system - his system churns out a lot of consistency and winning.

For instance there is a chance that the cross screens will come back. David Locke pointed out that AJ scores ~80% (a huge%) when he gest the ball on left side, close in to use a short jump hook. Well, the cross screens for Karl were used to get him 2ft closer to the hoop. That 2 ft makes the difference. Carlos didn't need (couldn't use) those becuase he was not charging into the lane to score.

I'm just elated at the fact that we can run a little high pick and roll with Sap, then some low block with AJ, then high, then low, then low, high to mix it up. That will take just an ounce or two pressure off both players. Enough to make a difference.

How good of a post passer was/is Raja? That will be more important now that we have a low post hero. Horny and Malone were good together. (Obviously Stockton and Malone were good...) AK is good at this. CJ is a pretty good passer. It appeared Hayward was in Summer League. We have a lot ot look forward to.

Also, i wouldn't be surprised if AJ did NOT average the ppg that Boozer did. And also, it is possible that Sap will NOT increase his average much. The scoring 'wealth' could be spread around some. As long as Jazz are winning, then the individual statistical metrics would be the indicator of "AJ better than Boozer." Winning would be a better indicator.

Not that i'm predicting AJ won't average more, I just wouldn't besurprised if he didn't. I will think his rebs here might even be 12+ though.

Guarantee you he averages the same amount of rebs., probably more...points? Maybe. Still up in the air for me. And I do like your assessment on his high/low abilities. The guy could go full-out beast mode this season.
