How bad/good is Cody Williams?

Yeah, we saw this. Cody has a path as a 3D wing if he can add strength and increase his presence on the defensive side, and then make enough of his 3s. He's decent at tracking guards defensively and moving the ball on offense. He's not dead, but he's got a lot of work to do over the next couple years.
 
First he needs to be assertive. He has shown some glimpses of talent. He definitely has the size and athleticism. He just needs confidence and some fire. How he responds in summer/fall will be telling.

I didn't want to draft him as he looked unpolished in college. Easy to say in hindsight, but there were probably better picks out there. Still, I could see why the Jazz would want to take a swing on someone with his size and potential.
 
At some point, some of the young guys are going to get packed into deals for vets to fill out the roster. He either gets bigger and improves, or he makes it an easy call. I still like him and think it’s stupid to compare him to his brother - especially when their college careers were so different. I hope he has the work ethic to get there. I do think he has a lot of upside. . . but he also has a long way to go before realizing it.
 
He’s still a baby. I’ll worry about how he looks 2 years from now. If he still looks lost or doesn’t add more weight and strength by then. . . at that point I’ll worry. Pick has already been made - just have to hope he’s a pro and has the grind to get better.
 
I have wondered if the Jazz could put together a package to get his brother from OKC. I wonder if having his brother on the same team would help him.
