How Badly Will The Jazz Be Under Estimated This Year

Over on ISH most posters are listing the Jazz between 9th-13th in the west at the end of the season. Seems typical that the Jazz who are almost always in the playoffs are being ignored. You would think that people would give some credit to the Jazz because they are always there in the post season.

Looking forward to the Jazz proving the haters wrong once again! GO JAZZ!!

I'm more worried about the Jazz from within. After making the playoffs there maybe be a sense of taking it easy out of the gates(or added pressure internally because of the raised goals).
Also, with a lot new faces we may struggle early on with chemistry, and finding their roles.

At least we get a full training camp, and pre-season this year. So there is a good chance we can overcome the soph slump out of the gates.
Just don't be worried if we come out a little flat at first. I believe we'll finish very strong once the team figures out its rotations, and roles.

The Jazz have been underestimated ever since Stock and Malone were done.
With the exception of the couple good Deron/Boozer/Memo years, coupled with the WC finals.... we've always been underestimated.

Everyone thought T-Mac and the Rockets would beat us.... nope.
Then everybody said Golden State was too fast for the Jazz..... but nope.
Now when it comes to the Lakers, I suppose you'd be better off not betting on the Jazz.

Truth being.... with the exception of maybe the Lakers and Grizzlies, the Jazz have a good chance of beating almost any other team including the Cheat.

Utah, Salt Lake, the Jazz.... they'll always be underestimated, and that's part of the reason I love the Jazz.
Always an underdog no matter where they are in the standings.

I think the Jazz will have a monster year. Look at our starting five:

PG - we have a better shooter who is motivated. Better
SG - Hayward is a year better, with playoff experience, ran with the Olympians. He should be much better than Bell, CJ, and a second year Hayward with little training camp and offseason.
SF - Marvin. HUGE upgrade from last year
PF - Millsap - contract year. Enough said.
C - Jefferson - contract year. Enough said.

Bench - Foye, Burks, Favors, Kanter, Carroll. All are vast improvements when you consider offseason, talent upgrades and training camps and contract situations.

Corbin - This is a contract year for him as well. The Jazz hold an option for him next year. He is coaching for his life right now, especially with a new GM.

This team is full of talent and desperation. I fully expect home court of wholesale changes after this year (Corbin, looking at you).

The Jazz will be underestimated if they continue to start anyone in the place where Favors should be.

The Jazz gets a fair respect as a strong home-team, almost always. Not winning on the road is the main reason of we aren't seen as a big team overall(Excluding business/market reasons).

But as stated before in this thread, I like it, it's a part of identity of this team.

I can see that to a point but 13th in the west? Give me a damn break. That is basically saying they will win 10-20 games total.

The difficult, road-heavy schedule in the early stretch of the season is crucial to proving anybody wrong about who we are as a team. If you are on the outside looking in, then I can see why it might not look very good. We have a lot of players playing for contracts, which might cause the wheels to fall off if things get rocky early.

How many of the teams ahead of the Jazz in the West got worse?

Thunder: No
Spurs: Maybe a little, but still better than the Jazz
Lakers: Should be better than last year
Memphis: Should be about the same
Denver: About the same
Dallas: ???? who knows - Maybe Jazz pass them
Jazz:
Houston: Probably worse
PHX: Worse
Min: Better, but probably not past the Jazz
GS: Could be ok. Lots of questions here. Jazz should be better
Sac: Probably the worst team in the West
NO: Should be a contender for the playoffs. Jazz probably slightly better this year.

Jazz are probably anywhere from 7-10 in my estimation.

That is in aleague with the Jazz no getting better or worse. I think the general consensus is that the Jazz have improved. How much they have improved can be debated but i think the shooters we now have can have a huge impact on the team depending on how they are used. If effectively used I can see the Utah bigs all having career years.

I see the Jazz as 4-6/7 range if everything clicks.

Totally possible. Only 5 games seperated 3 from 8.

the jazz were underestimated long before that. you obviously aren't old enough to remember the term "their window is closing" being associated with the jazz in just about every preview article from 1992 on.

Do you know him personally? Then refrain from jabs about his age. Shallow and they weaken your whole point/stance.

it wasn't intended as a dig at all. i was just saying that people who have been around jazz basketball for a while know that even john and karl were written off most years, including the finals years and especially karl's second MVP year.

i don't know anything about silencer and didn't mean for that to sound condescending at all.

oh ok, my bad. I just see age used as an attempted insult on the internet all day long. One of the most idiotic insults ever.

The Jazz will be doing good to hang around .500 through early January. So underestimate away...and then be prepared to watch the Jazz take off when they play 15 of 20 at home. That stretch could vault them from just outside the playoffs, to being around the 4-5th seed.

You can make a case for ending at 9th/10th, but 13th is ridiculous. Who did Utah lose? Oh yeah, Braille, Chucker and Howler. Yeah, that's gonna hurt us!

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here. It does look as though our talent level has gone up and the young guns are a year improved, but this thread is a jinx waiting to happen.
