How Did Draft Lottery Impact Jazz

Except that Milwaukee is like a suburb of chicago so many people considered Jabari a home town kid and the Bucks getting him in the lottery was very fortunate timing for Senator Kohl to maximize his asking price as he sold the team. It also helped generate public support for public financing of a new arena.

From Wikipedia. ..

On September 18, 2013, then-deputy NBA commissioner Adam Silver toured the arena and said it was a few thousand square feet short of NBA standards, and also lacked numerous amenities.[16] On April 16, 2014, Kohl announced an agreement to sell the franchise to New York City hedge-fund investors Marc Lasry and Wesley Edens. The deal included provisions for $100 million each from Kohl and the new ownership group, for a total of $200 million, toward the construction of a new downtown arena.[17] Soon afterward, the NBA gave the Bucks an ultimatum—get a new arena, or be close to completing a new arena, by the start of the 2017–18 season. If not, the league would buy the franchise from Lasry and Edens and sell the Bucks to one of two prospecting ownership groups; one in Las Vegas and the other in Seattle, which would have meant the certain departure of the Bucks from Milwaukee. On July 15, 2015, the Wisconsin Senate approved funding for the new arena by a 21–10 margin
Then Chicago should’ve got the pick. Don’t buy it.

Chicago didnt need public financing to help a Senator close a sale and make a huge profit....Milwaukee did. Jabari was closest thing to a hometown star.

Or there is nothing conspiratorial and it was just a well timed coincident that happened to make several rich people richer.

Zion ain’t going back to college. That would be a terrible decision.

1. Blows out a knee and suddenly is damaged goods.

2. Teams drafting at the top aren’t supposed to be good. Who’s to say that next year is going to be any better?

3. Losers mentality. If you are already such a diva that you won’t play for some organizations before accomplishing a single thing on a NBA court, you’ve already bought your own hype.

I dunno it could be a smart move, injury is the only real risk, but a move next year to a bigger market could well make it worth the risk. Im not saying im a fan of this but i see the logic.

That, plus it starts the clock on his max contracts if he does pan out. No sense in putting it off. If you’re really unhappy, do what Hayward did. That’s the quickest way out the door. RFA, 4 year contract with the last year PO on the rookie extension.

One thing to watch... I don't think the Lakers have max space as is right now. Since they moved up in the draft it eats up about 3.5M... they have lots of movable young players but may need to move Hart, Wagner, or a bigger piece to get to max room. They can't quite get there by moving Bonga...

They kind of need all the ammo they can get to send to NO in an AD trade. So not moving Ball, Ingram, #4, or Kuzma pre-draft... I'd love to get Hart for a few seconds... I'd take Wagner for a second or two... I'm not sure they can extract a future first for those guys... anyway something to watch. I think we have a trade exception from the AB Korver trade we could use.

The Laker's "talent" is crap, as is the #4 pick in a two person draft. I wouldn't even give Tatum for that offer let alone Davis. Davis > Tatum > Laker's crap. I do fully expect the Pelicans to feign interest in the Lakers offer to drive up the price for Davis. But Tatum + Zion + Jrue + whatever else you can pry out of the Celtics is better than whatever you would get out of LA. That isn't even beginning to touch other offers that might be available.
