My favorite thing on the entire interwebs is watching a Jazzfanz thread completely devolve into pure ****. It’s even better than pics of Miley Cyrus peeing in parking lots. This thread has some HOF worthy off-the-rails potential.

If your whole point is I to show that I like to show some negative things about Simmons and positive things about Mitchell, yes you got me. I like to cheer for my team. I also like to point out to our Australian/Simmons fan boys that Mitchell is better at some things.

I think a few have swung hard to the pro Dante team but Id like to warn against too higher expectations this early. X still has a lot to learn and will need a few more seasons to master some of the skills weve seen DM display on a nightly basis.

On a personal level Im stoked hes been able to get back and put a great stretch together and finally display the game changing potential he has.

You're right. The only jumpers I've seen him take are catch and shoot. Why doesn't he take pull-up jumpers? Maybe he hasn't developed one yet? I agree Lonzo has a bad shot, but does shoot off the dribble and I've seen him make some unlikely shots that way in his unorthodox manner. In the past, I've seen some pull-up jumpers by Dante and they're pretty ugly.

In Summer League, our very first basket in our very first offence of our very first first game was an off-the-dribble 3 by Exum. He proceeded to take - and make - off-the-dribble baskets throughout SL and pre-season before TJ Warren happened. This was something new he had developed, and if you had actually watched SL like you claim, then you would know this. But he hasn't taken any since his return because he hasn't had to. He's either getting all the way to the rack or taking catch-and-shoot 3s, both efficient shots. Hence his great stats so far.

Lonzo's shot isn't bad, it's irretrievably broken. He does shoot off the dribble, but shouldn't. Particularly going to his right. Taking dumb, inefficient shots is not something Exum should aspire to.

May just be me and I wont mention specifics but has anyone else noticed some weird energy between X and ONeal on the court?

I sometimes wonder if it would piss X off that O'Neale seems to run sets. But I figured that's just how I would feel.
It does feel inexcusable to me that when O'Neale grabs a board he doesn't throw it to X to lead the break.

Yeh, this is what I was referring too, it happens on fast breaks too and when ONeal inbounds the ball he'll always pass to Ingles, Rubio or DM when X is there.

Probably no big deal but it has been something Ive noticed the past few weeks. I can imagine ONeal would be feeling a little pressure since X returned.

With an offensive rating of 127 and a PER of 23.9. Both of which are the best on our team. Although just barely, Gobert is at 124 offensive rating and 20.9 PER.

Exum's PER would be 9th in the NBA if he qualified. Exum's Offensive rating would be #2 in the league.

Those are according to basketball reference. NBA.com are different. Here are the Jazz advanced stats on NBA.com. Exum is leading in just about everything (besides the 1/2 minute of play from Naz)

Those numbers are probably not sustainable but I think it shows how good he has looked in his limited numbers so far.

What I found interesting is RPM still hates Exum. His offensive rating is through the floor and he is still below replacement level on the defensive end. He currently ranks 64th among pg's

He hasnt logged enough minutes for any stat to mean a damn.

Eye test says hes doing ok and contributing to winning basketball games.

Sure. But don't you think it's interesting that on some advanced metrics he is basically LeBron, and on RPM he is 'still worse' than Shelvin Mack.

No I dont.

For any of those stats they are only accurarte with tonnes of data. A small sample size with lead to greater variances.
