What's new

How do the Jazz get this thing back on track?

PS, my favorite argument ever is, "'member when the Jazz got luckier than almost anyone ever and drafted two of the greatest players ever that also played better together than any pairing ever? (The Jazz can/should do that again)."

Oh, thanks. What a wonderful, likely solution.

Celtics want to move Bass' and Lee's longer contracts for Omer Asik. OMER ASIK! The most overrated center in the NBA the past 3 seasons (thanks Thibbs). They don't, however, want to part with a pick this year.

Bass for Williams and one of their many future 1sts, plus the option to swap the less favorable of our GSW with the less favorable of ATL/Brooklyn one they own.*

*I only like this as a tank move. It's pretty bleh otherwise.

I know this is unrelated to the OP, but since it is sorta interesting, here are the 10 remaining amnesty candidates league-wide:

1. Joakim Noah
2. Carlos Boozer
3. Rajon Rondo
4. Zach Randolph
5. Mike Conley
6. Al Horford
7. Tony Parker
8. Kevin Durant
9. Kendrick Perkins
10. Nick Collison

Also interesting: only four teams did not and no longer can use the amnesty clause (because they don't have an eligible player under contract): Detroit, New Orleans, Sacramento and our very own Utah Jazz!

But Bass can play. Jazz need a legit stinker of a player.

Holy COW, you guys are freaking out. We just beat an AWFUL Orlando team without their best player. And we BARELY beat them. We aren't that good. And now you want to fire Ty because he is doing too good of a job? Ha ha.

Simple solution.

1 - Put Jefferson and Williams on the block. No need to rush a trade, see what you can get for them.

2 - Don't play Kanter until he figures his **** out. We want to lose, but we want to develop players. Favors and Burke have something nice going on. Don't un-develop or slow their development because you want to play a whiny Kanter.

3 - Keep giving Burks minutes. See what you have over the next month. Then trade him or Hayward. They are both SG's, and both will/should start (if Burks keeps this up). Pick one, move the other.

Then, see where you are come after the trade deadline. Odds are, you look like this:

Burke/Garrett/Lucas
Hayward or Burks/????
Rush/????/????
Favors/Evans
Biedrens/Kanter

Viola. If we are the fifth worst team, come Feb, that will kill us fast.

Now, come the middle of March, if we aren't the worst team by then, then you start letting your players "heal". Got the sniffles in Miami? Here is a pile of $1's. Stay home and get better. Tweak your ankle on the stairs in NY? The Lion King musical is in town, go get better. Headache in LA? You get the point.

Come the middle of April, you are the worst team in the NBA.

Don't panic guys. Don't make rash decisions just to lose 2-3 more games than you would anyways over the next couple of months.

First thing:

Gotta get rid of the 2 vets who are desperately trying out for new teams. Gotta get rid of them. Get a 2016 second rounder or a bag of chips for them. I don't care.

Gotta force kanter and favors together and let them figure things out. We need to know more about kanter.

I would look and dropping Hayward's mins. We know who he is, and it isn't all that great. Is burks a keeper? Need to see.

Fire Corbin. He's like Jefferson and Williams, desperately trying to salvage his career. Should have fired him last year. Kept him on and now he's screwing up the tank. Of course he would. He gains nothing by helping the jazz develop while scoring a top draft pick for his replacement to enjoy coaching.
Would you settle for a Bagadonuts? Good posts on this subject, BTW, Thriller.

We aren't that good.

Note that we are 6 wins and 7 losses in our last thirteen games

Now go look at the records for orlando, philly, and millwaukee in thier last 13 games and get back to me.

The only problem is, I'm pretty sure that the other teams have thought of this brilliant strategy too. In other words, if we keep winning at anythwhere near the rate we have been since Burke returned , you can forget about falling back into last place if we don't get serious about it until February. Everyone below us will be tanking like muthas.

In addition to CJ Miles, I say we try to re-acquire AK and Memo* so they can all come in and finish demolishing the franchise.

*love the guy, but that last contract was ****
