How is League Pass Broadband?

If you were to stream video's for free online, what website do you use? Is the quality pretty decent?

For those that might be interested I will be getting TV Package + Broadband this year as well, so I will be offering my broadband access to Jazz Fanz, like I did in the past.

I tried to pre-order it through TWC today and even that they quoted me for early bird special of $169 they couldn't put it in system "yet", so I will have to give them a call just before season starts.

So if you're interested PM me...

Why do you have to have DSL? You can have cable. You just have to pay an extra amount for not having cable TV. That, or they just require you to have basic cable TV as well.

I haven't checked in a while, but keeping cable internet and adding the comparable DirectTV package adds 50 dollars a month to the bottom line. Time Warner is smart enough to realize if they don't offer a premium savings for bundling cable and internet they'd see a massive exodus to Satellite. 2 years ago I threatened to leave and they chopped my bill down a little bit. I'll probably try that tactic again in the near future. I've learned all cable companies have customer retention departments. But the dream is for DirectTV to come up with something better than DSL partnerships. I was intrigued by the whole VIOS thing, but they don't offer that where I live.

The worst thing about League Pass, with or without Broadband access, is that every year (at least here in Idaho) the blackout zones are screwed up, and no one living on this planet seems to have any clue as to how to fix it. Not only that, but last year on LP Broadband (again in Idaho) we were blacked out of random games (like Minn v. LAL) from time to time, again without any explanation. Trying to reach anyone at League Pass Broadband to request a fix/explanation is beyond worthless. Using a little proxy client randomly "fixed" the problem, but at other times did nothing. Very frustrating. I just want to pay good money to watch the Jazz, and I should be able to, but neither my sat provider nor the NBA wants to take it (apparently). I note in reading the license agreement that they do not refund any unused portion of the season for any reason, so if this happens to you and you've already paid, you're just screwed.

Is DSL really worse than cable internet where you live? Like I said in the other post, I've had both Road Runner (Time Warner Cable) and DSL and for my location (Hawaii) DSL is hands down better than Road Runner, it's not even debatable. During peak evening hours when everyone is online, Road Runner slows down to dial-up speeds...I personally would never go back to that crap. I don't envy your situation though...somehow I hope you get your internet situation squared away so you can get Directv...

I used to test my DSL speeds on those broadband test sites when I had it and it was always erratic. My cable speeds are consistently excellent. Maybe it's an LA/Hawaii thing. DSL might have improved, but I'm not going back until I see evidence of that. Time Warner is on double secret probation with me. I'm pretty close to DirectTV even with the bump. The only thing holding me back right now is I've got the entire season of Mad Men DVR'd and I want to get through this season until I make major changes.

I'm very curious to see if NBALP has significantly upgraded from last season. If not, I'm likely out of the purchase. Where the hell is the free preview? Sucks to them for not giving us FREE preseason previews on top of the usual first week of the regular season.

And for those recommending the streams available for free on the Net, most of the time, the quality and/or the availability suck.

Sorry for bumping.. Just wanted to make sure I understand correctly. With the NBA Broadband pass, if you live in Utah, all Jazz games will be blacked out because they're accessible on Fox Sports?

Which one of us would be willing to be the host account and as such would have to possibly reveal his or her credit card information, home address, and real name to the other people he or she shares the account with? That's the problem with sharing. I know I wouldn't want to host, but I'm down for splitting costs.

I think write4u would be down with that idea.

Does anyone outside of the Jazz broadcast area subscribe to Fox Sports Utah or Midwest? I'm leaning toward the League Pass broadband because the last time that Fox Sports was in our cable package they never had Jazz games on (sometimes they'd show summer league, but never regular season). I'm in Pittsburgh, so having to wait until the next day doesn't bother me too much since with the time difference that's what I would do if I recorded it from TV any way. I'm not sure what team(s), if any, will be blacked out in my area, and while I could care less that I don't get to see their games, I don't want to miss when the Jazz are on the road against them!
And thanks for the info about multiple people being able to log in at the same time, I'm sure we'll take advantage of that option if we get league pass.

The Fox Sports Rocky Mountain and Fox Sports Utah will be blacked out once the game starts during the regular season unless you live within the Utah area. Other wise if they didn't I'm sure more people would sign up for the FSN packages instead of League Pass, or the other sports like NFL, MLB, MLS etc..

Thanks so much for making Fox Sports more clear! My husband was leaning toward that one since Salt Lake has a MLS team. Now we'll just have to decide the other 6 teams for the broadband package.

I'm not sure this is true. Two years back when we were getting mysteriously blacked out on League Pass, we ended up cancelling League Pass and switching to the above. Even though we live in Northern Idaho, we got all the Jazz games, no black outs. I have no idea what the "Utah area" includes; maybe it includes N. Idaho?

I am almost positive the games are blacked out in the Utah area. Can anyone here that's had League Pass confirm this? I'm gonna purchase it anyway, I just want to know if I should pick Utah as one of my teams, or would it be a wasted pick.

I don't have league pass but from hearing others I believe your right as far as if your local (Utah) and have league pass it will black out and make you watch it on the FSN feed.
As an example years ago (S&M days) my dad had Dish Network and got the FSN package to watch the Jazz cause not all game where televised even locally so he thought he would watch the other teams feed but sure enough you be watching some show "Best Damn Sports Show" as example and as soon as game started nothing.
Can't speak for the boundaries on who gets what however.

My NBA League Pass TV Companion is up and running, if someone is interested in purchasing it and save that way instead of buying it directly through nba.com, just pm me and I'll let you know the price I'm looking for.

I've had a great experience so far with my broadband LP. The only thing I don't like is sometimes you can see the scores on an archived game before you even que it up to watch and that is very frustrating. Other than that it's crystal clear, smooth and very worth the money.
