How Much Could Tyler Herro Match Donovan in Utah?

Let's revisit this now that we've done a Rudy trade. Herro isn't as good as Donovan... but I was shocked when I looked back at his numbers this season. If he takes another slight improvement in his production he won't be a whole lot different. I think we have maybe under-rated the guy... he's closer to Donovan's class than JC's class... only 22. See if he will extend for 22-25M a year... make him the focus of the offense and we likely still tank next year but his value may be pretty decent at draft time.

The heat package isn't bad imo... at very least I'd put the rumors out that we are in the deal zone on this one and get the final and best offer from NY. Once Don goes to Miami they aren't getting him so time to show your cards.

They're very different. Herro has never been a #1 option with Butler, Lowry and Bam on the team, and I don't think he's capable of being one. Herro is closer to prime Alec Burks than Donovan Mitchell. He's been a complementary player.

I’ve been trying to tell people lol.

21/5/4 with 40% from 3 on 6.7 attempts is ****ing nice.

Just put up 20.7/5/4 on good percentages and is 22 years old.

Donovan 24/4/4 on worse percentages at 22.

I think he's being sold a little short. What happens if he is fed as much as Donovan? He might be just fine with the volume.

Herro also has 5 inches on Donovan.

He can't create on the ball like Donovan. He plays mostly off the ball and moves the ball. The roles are very different.

I think you're right, but Ferguson makes a good point about offensive gravity and being "that dude." In a vacuum, I take Donovan over Herro. As part of rebuild package? That makes it an interesting thing to consider.

Only 22... I mean if he got to 23/5/5 on similar percentages he's pretty close to AS territory.

I get why people want RJ more because of the type of player he could become. His situation is a little tough too... but in 5 years we may look back and see it wasn't really close at all.
