Mormon Inc. always brings out the Utah's worst riff raff. I'm surprised at how tame this thread has been.

I hate the idea that we should all suffer so long as any of us suffer. It seems like a noble notion, but it's pure evil.

Is it just me or is there a trend of posters that follow LDS threads and ALWAYS try and make the church "evil" and "bad" and "wrong" as if they're trying to justify their reasoning and/or hate/intolerance for it?

Here's a message to those whiney school girls. Shut your pie hole and quit playing the "LDS people and church is so, so evil" card. We get it that you don't like it, we're just tired of hearing you yip.

It's absolutely fair game. I don't mean to come off as a jerk (sorry Zombie) but come on, give me a break. If you read the article, it clearly says why the church built it. Plus, it's not like the church doesn't spend millions/billions in humanitarianism, etc. I mean, the church founded Salt Lake City, and them spending money to make the city a better place and giving the citizens more to do, is pretty cool. Was it a lot of money? Yes. Can some people think they're vain for building it? Absolutely. But with that said, you're lying to yourself if you deny that what I was saying about people trying to make he church look evil every chance they get doesn't have some validity to it. Or doesn't it?

I think the really interesting point to discuss goes back to Mormon pioneering practices of collectives and wealth creation... the pre-runner to the corporate-private behemoth it is today. Back then, as today, they saw holiness in the practice of caring for one another in worldly ways. While I might disagree with the form it has taken, there is something to that view that I really appreciate (because it doesn't start with some castrating POV that all worldly acts are sin; you mustn't believe in this world, you must leave it).

I also think it is interesting how they put Mormon charity into perspective. I'm surprised there hasn't been more discussion on this already; the article puts a miserly spin on the organization.

So conform to beliefs outside the religion to "revitalize" an LDS community? So should a wardhouse have an open bar to help "revitalize" the attendance to get non-members there?

Last thing I'll write on the matter. I don't care if people dislike, don't believe, or whatever that's contrary to my beliefs. That's not the point I tried to make. I make fun of a lot of things I believe, and I feel I've been good to admit and own up to a lot of that. My problem (which is apparent a lot of you aren't understand save PKM) is that people try to spin something as evil or bad. I don't get that, but I guess it makes me intolerant, so apologize if I came off as a dick to several of you.
