What's new

I don't want Jeremy Evans in the dunk contest!

Cchackstar. You really believe something like this would put a big contract on Evans? You need help.
Is that a personal attack? And you even attacked my name! I kind of feel welcomed to the board now, and yes, the entire nation seeing Jeremy Evans on national tv will probably bring his price up a little. Why do you think players even come to these events? For the free lunches? It's all about publicity, it's all about getting their names out there for recognition, and whether it's the main reason or not, with better name recognition comes better contracts.

The funny thing is that if there is one player in the league who came to the all star game for the fun of it and not the publicity, Jeremy is the one. Still, the new rep is there whether he intended it to or not.

Jeremy won, and I was happy to see it. I still would have preferred him not play in it, but once in, a Jazz player might as well bring home a trophy.

Yeah, Gerald Green winning the dunk contest sure helped him a lot. Nobody is going to give Jeremy extra money because he won the dunk contest...wake up.

Whether he gets more money or not will depend on what he does from here on out. If he sucks, everyone will know because they know who he is now. If he excels, they will also know. This has never been about the dunk contest getting him a big contract, it is about the dunk contest making him no longer our little secret.

Secret's out yo'

Dude gets 4 minutes a night, if he plays at all. He had more DNPs in February than we had wins. He can't shoot and his defense is pretty unremarkable outside of the occasional block. The "secret" is not out, unless you're saying the ability to dunk two basketballs at once was some well-kept secret and a real sought after trait in the NBA.

This has absolutely nothing to do with the dunk contest. Zero. Paul Millsap and Wesley Matthews weren't in any dunk contests, but that didn't stop teams like Portland from throwing money at them when they had breakout seasons. If Jeremy Evans suddenly starts playing 15-20 minutes a game and contributing to things other than a nifty highlight reel, then yeah, maybe some team throws more money at him than the Jazz are willing to spend. But the dunk contest doesn't have a damn thing to do with it.

Stop backpeddling and adding ifs to your argument and just admit you were wrong.

Oh you a real basketball expert where u gettin it from that he cant shoot because thats what you hear? Have u ever seen evans shoot at all. And did any of you idiots ever stop to think that the jazz know what kind of player he could become and are trying to resign him at a low price(his 2 year contract ends this year). No winning the contest wont just get a big contract thrown at him but i bet his playing time increases. Then you will see.

Yes, I actually watch the Jazz games. It's rare, but the guy has taken jumpshots in a Jazz uniform. It's rare for a reason. I'm pretty sure if they guy could knock down a consistent jumpshot, he'd touch the ball more. The only time Evans ever touches the ball on offense is when it's lobbed to him for an oop.

Did you not see Evans dunk two balls at once? That is a 4 point play (5 points when he gets fouled). Who wouldn't pay big bucks for that?

I wonder what he will get signed for next year? Surely every team would want him at the minimum.

Is that better. I watch every jazz game the coach is an idiot he tells jeremy not to shoot. He can actually shoot the ball pretty decent very soft touch. I can understand how nobody knows this now but in due time he will show it mark my words.
