What's new

I feel awful for hayward....that leg break...

Way off.
I said many here want to be seen as a GOOD PERSON. Not just to be seen.

Big difference.
And it's not just on this board. I see it constantly on facebook.

Yes, I question the sincerity.
Oh, I see. So we're virtue signalling whereas those making a big show about how little they care are doing what exactly?

Face it, come on, be honest. When you saw Ramsey Bolton get eaten by his dogs, part of you was happy that justice was served. You wouldn't do it yourself, but part of you is glad the universe -- or someone over whom you had no influence -- did it for you.

Plato's Republic, my friends.

Plato says we should be just. Plato's brother, Glaucon, says we should APPEAR to be just. Glaucon wonders what would happen if we had the mythical ring of Gyges, which renders us invisible, so that we can do nasty things, like pushing Hayward in the back when he goes up for an ally-oop, but no one can see us doing it...

I didn't see it, but some Celtics fans were saying that Crowder did push Hayward in the back. Can anyone verify that?

Is that not what you said? That you felt worse about Hayward's injury because you got to see it on TV? And how else am I supposed to take "unsure about the future for somebody who has succeeded so much?" Are you not suggesting that because Hayward is a star, it makes a difference somehow?

That was not a comparison to Dante's. I was saying your comparison of how many posts in each thread is off the mark because there is obviously more to discuss regarding Hayward's. Hayward being a star is a different level of sympathy because you have to be dedicated and work your *** off to get to the level of play he is at. Dante deserves a different level of sympathy because of being so young and full of potential as well as working his way back from another very serious injury. I think saying one is worse or deserves more attention than the other is ridiculous.

I think I would just sit in a women's locker room all day with an invisible bag of cheetoes. And whoppers.

But yeah, some people still care about Haywood more than Dante without a doubt, and although it doesn't make them a bad fan, it does make them a bad Jazz fan.

Cannot get behind this statement. Some people react differently and that is ok. Many Jazz fans can see Hayward has given more to this team than Dante and have invested more of their fandom rooting for Hayward so reacting differently to a horrific injury to a guy you spent 7 years rooting for does not make you a bad Jazz fan.

I am just returned from one of my long absences, having been at my other home for five weeks past. Having more leisure there than here for reading, I amused myself with reading seriously Plato’s Republic. I am wrong however in calling it amusement, for it was the heaviest task-work I ever went through. I had occasionally before taken up some of his other works, but scarcely ever had patience to go through a whole dialogue. While wading thro’ the whimsies, the puerilities [childishness], and unintelligible jargon of this work, I laid it down often to ask myself how it could have been that the world should have so long consented to give reputation to such nonsense as this? … bringing Plato to the test of reason, take from him his sophisms [arguments used to deceive], futilities, and incomprehensibilities, and what remains? … Yet this which should have consigned him to early oblivion really procured him immortality of fame and reverence.

"Tis' why I, David Hume, am a better philosopher than Plato. He thinks but of reason, yet I take into account emotion, such as the feeling to want to push Hayward in the back when he goes up for an ally-oop."

I'm not sure if this has been addressed or not, but there is one huge elephant that it seems no one is talking about. I watched the replay numerous times to see what happened to Hayward. When Hayward went up for the alley oop, Jae Crowder bent over twisted and took Haywards legs out from under him. He then walked away and didn't look back, like he knew he was quilty but wanted to act all innocent. I'm not saying Crowder wanted to injure Hayward but I think he definitely wanted to shake him up. Remember last years Jazz game in Boston when Crowder got mad at the Boston crowd because they cheered Hayward like they knew he was coming to Boston. Also Hayward is the new starting small forward in Boston, Crowder the old starting small forward. Coincidence? Or welcome to the Eastern Conerence. It looked intentional to me. Crowder should be suspended as long as Hayward is out!

Yeah I sorta saw that as well. Both Crowder and LeBron went up to break up that alley hoop attempt. I still haven't looked at it all that closely cos it was such a horrific moment, but I did wonder about what really happened in the air before Hayward landed.

It seems strange for him to have come down awkwardly like that all by himself without at least being touched in the air.
