What's new

I feel awful for hayward....that leg break...

I am just returned from one of my long absences, having been at my other home for five weeks past. Having more leisure there than here for reading, I amused myself with reading seriously Plato’s Republic. I am wrong however in calling it amusement, for it was the heaviest task-work I ever went through. I had occasionally before taken up some of his other works, but scarcely ever had patience to go through a whole dialogue. While wading thro’ the whimsies, the puerilities [childishness], and unintelligible jargon of this work, I laid it down often to ask myself how it could have been that the world should have so long consented to give reputation to such nonsense as this? … bringing Plato to the test of reason, take from him his sophisms [arguments used to deceive], futilities, and incomprehensibilities, and what remains? … Yet this which should have consigned him to early oblivion really procured him immortality of fame and reverence.
Thomas Jefferson to John Adams, July 5, 1814
Did you see The Dark Tower movie?

I like this new look Jazz minus Gordon. It sucks that he blew out his ankle like that though. It feels a bit wrong now to be glad that he's gone.

He's not dead !!!

Good recovery, Gordon

You [edited] Whatever happened to being human?

While I had to issue a fract for this one, I agree with it pretty much 100%.

And I hated Hayward for leaving. But I wanted him to just play crappy and watch the Celtics lose, not for him to suffer a horrid injury like that.

All reports are that his injury is less serious than something like a blown acl. People are just getting emotional because it looked like a brutal injury. Honestly though, considering the reactions many fans had after Dante blew his acl, a lot of people are being pretty hypocritical here. Haywood is going to be fine, and it's kind of pathetic how little concern some fans have had for Jazz players, but want to throw a fit because not everyone is upset for Gordon Haywad.

They'll get over it once he's healed and playing again, especially when they suddenly remember what a dick he was on his way out.

I've been in almost a state of shock. Gordon was our guy and we all wanted him back, so to see him go down like this in the first first five minutes of his Celtics debut was atrocious. I hope he has a speedy recovery and we see him on the court this year.

I think guilt fuels this. People probably think that somehow they caused this. Or similar to telling someone off then finding out shortly after that their dad died, or that they died.

One thing is interesting, though. This year I believe the Celtics without him will surely have a worse record, and in the east, which will likely sting at the end of the season that a Haywardless Jazz is far superior to a Haywardless Celtics. So much for that winning culture.

Hopefully they still make the playoffs, though, so they're out of the lottery. I'd love to see them finish as the 8th seed and face the Lebronians with a healthy IT. Thomas deserves revenge.
