What's new

I guess this is why Sloan prefers to play veterans

This is why I have trouble watching this game... Because young guys and no name guys get picked on, BIG TIME!!

Hayward made one of the BEST defensive plays on Carmelo Anthony that I've ever seen made on him and he gets called for the foul. The kid anticipated every move he was going to make and got a piece of the basketball to boot... And what does the kid get for his effort?? A whistle!!

That play alone may in effect cement my decision to give up this game for good... It's just the sheer principle of that play that irates me to no end!! It's just because one guy is Carmelo and the other is a rookie that hasn't earned his wings yet...

That's just utter ********... Not to mention they picked on the kid all night and he was in foul trouble too early to be at all effective in the game...

This kid has done nothing but bust his *** and he gets bad break after bad break... I hope he hangs in there mentally and overcomes it, because a lot of guys don't...

And for those of you who get on Sloan for sticking with his veterans, this kid is a perfect reason why... He KNOWS these kids get picked on, and that's why he sticks with a guy like Raja Bell..

Who, by the way, showed why he's so valuable tonight... When you have been in the league as long as Raja has, you know how to get into certain players heads... And he got into the head of one of the best clutch shooters down the stretch and in turn got him ejected from the game...

I don't care if he went 1-20 in the 1st three quarters... This Smith just seems to know how to turn it on in the 4th and having him out of the game down the stretch was HUGE for this team! That's veteran Saavy and Raja may have helped cement this win more than some people here think...

I want Raja to succeed... Because he picked us over the Lakers... To me, that's a huge testament of how much the guy wants to play in Utah and for Jerry Sloan... That's why I like the guy...

Raja is going to help us in the playoffs, that is for sure. The over/under on how many people he gets ejected per series is 2.

Gordon played good D on Melo but was overpowered, and Melo will get the call anytime there is contact. If Hayward is going to make it in this league SG might have to be his primary position.

He also got about 9 million other reasons for that decision... just saying

Why do people say this? I highly doubt millionaires care about every last dollar.

Just in case you're not being sarcastic, anyone cares about being guaranteed 9 times the money. He would've been a vet minimum, 1-year contract player on the Lakers and could conceivably not get another contract.

Games like last night Raja definitely deserved those minutes he played, the only issue I've ever had is when he is not playing well AND the rookies are playing well or the Jazz need a shot of energy they can spell him for a few minutes then you can put him back in.

So who would be some examples of players who give up their seven figure salary jobs because they mentally can't overcome the refs?

Melo's style of play perfectly highlights the problems with how the league officiates offensive moves. The league wanted more scoring, well, there you go, you develop players like melo. It's ****ing ugly, irritating basketball to watch. Add to this the fact that he's a bloody punk and cries on the few calls he DOESN'T get. He's #1 on my least favorite NBA player list.

This cannot be overlooked. Raja isn't a saint, he took the most money that was out there for him, period.

I bet part of that was being a starter and getting 30+ a game with the Jazz. Something that other playoff teams couldn't offer. He wouldn't be starting for any other playoff caliber team.

Hayward has been abused by the refs all season.
Unless you're an elite rookie, that's typical nba treatment. In 2001-02 the Jazz started AK and Jarron Collins over the last 2/3 of the season. Everytime they played an elite opponent like Sacramento or San Antonio the officials would specifically target AK and Collins and both would be out of the game w/2 fouls early (and keep in mind this was when you could handcheck and bump cutters). Nothing new here, just another example of what is wrong with NBA officiating.

Hasheem Thabeet, Michael Olowokandi, Yi Jianlin, Rodney White, Rafael Araujo, just to name a few... I could name a ******** more if you'd like...

Any other questions??

So 100% of the reason they left is the refs? If not then what %?
