I guess this is why Sloan prefers to play veterans

Games like last night Raja definitely deserved those minutes he played, the only issue I've ever had is when he is not playing well AND the rookies are playing well or the Jazz need a shot of energy they can spell him for a few minutes then you can put him back in.

So who would be some examples of players who give up their seven figure salary jobs because they mentally can't overcome the refs?
 
Melo's style of play perfectly highlights the problems with how the league officiates offensive moves. The league wanted more scoring, well, there you go, you develop players like melo. It's ****ing ugly, irritating basketball to watch. Add to this the fact that he's a bloody punk and cries on the few calls he DOESN'T get. He's #1 on my least favorite NBA player list.

I bet part of that was being a starter and getting 30+ a game with the Jazz. Something that other playoff teams couldn't offer. He wouldn't be starting for any other playoff caliber team.

Unless you're an elite rookie, that's typical nba treatment. In 2001-02 the Jazz started AK and Jarron Collins over the last 2/3 of the season. Everytime they played an elite opponent like Sacramento or San Antonio the officials would specifically target AK and Collins and both would be out of the game w/2 fouls early (and keep in mind this was when you could handcheck and bump cutters). Nothing new here, just another example of what is wrong with NBA officiating.

So 100% of the reason they left is the refs? If not then what %?

Thabeet and Yi are still in the league. So obviously they have not "given up their jobs."

Araujao is still playing overseas, where they allow less contact rather than more.

Kandi played 9 seasons and left because he lost his game after knee injuries.

Rodney White is playing in the Chinese league and didn't hack it in the NBA because all his coaches hated him on the defensive end.

Feel free to try and name more guys who gave up NBA paydays because of the refs.

In all honesty Kandi never had a game. Probably the biggest top 3 pick bust of all time.
