I really don't miss Deron that much...

That was part of the problem with Deron. He wanted the Utah Jazz to be his little club house for him and his bros. and it didn't really seem to matter if they were any good on the floor or not. I liked Brewer, but he was a liability because he couldn't shoot to save his life. The fact that Deron let that trade affect him says a lot about who Deron is (as a franchise player), and it's not good.
and yet Jazzfanz.com posters spend many hours every day disrespecting Jazz players as much as possible.
That's specifically because he plays 20-something minutes off the bench, not 30-something as a starter. That's how he can be used, but that's not how he was being used here. That doesn't scream great or very important player to me.

I'm sorry but this stuff pisses me off. Brewer shoots over 50% - and anyone who thinks that Williams was pissed he was traded for the reasons stated here are so mistaken. Yeah, it's tough to see a buddy get traded - but what pisses someone off who's trying to lead a team to a championship is when NOTHING is gotten back in return that's going to help get to that championship. Same with the Maynor trade - you had the Jazz giving away contributing assests for NOTHING that would help them the current season or the next - - or the next. Given the front office's history with draft picks during his tenure in Utah, I imagine Deron figured either they'd draft another worthless stiff or get someone decent that they'd trade away.
anyhow, I can't decide whether or not I miss Deron with the Jazz. I still try to follow him (I'll always be grateful for what he and his Illini teammates did during the 03/04 and 04/05 seasons - - and the wonderful support he's continued to show to the University of Illinois) so now I have to try to watch the Nets as well as the Jazz. But I was very disappointed in the team's (Jazz) lack of progress this season, and it does seem (in spite of the run of losses) that they're showing signs of becoming an exciting team to watch again, and a team of players who enjoy what they're doing.
Or they couldn't get anything of value for his absurdly large contract since they weren't going to take longterm salary. If they have a figure worked out already, then he could have been extended.
I think he sets a poor example and is nothing resembling a leader. Considering that and that he's not getting younger on a team that definitely will be, I hope he's gone.
There's hardly anything in common with the Maynor trade and Brewer trade. One was purely financial and the other was not really wanting the player and not wanting to over pay or lose him for nothing. I think the fact that Memphis didn't even extend the QO tells you everything you need to know. Brewer's a nice change-of-pace player that brings some nice things to the table but he is not that good and is being played in his ideal role right now and not playing that great.

Field goal percentage is not a direct indicator of how one shoots. I guess Shaq can be relied on more than John Stockton to hit a twenty footer because Shaq's career FG% is higher than Stockton's.
As for Brewer, Jazz got a first round pick that they parlayed into getting Al Jefferson. The trade was quite shrewd, especially given the Jazz did not lose a beat on the wing position last year with him gone.
Also, the Jazz went all in with the core of Okur, Boozer, AK, and Williams. Everything had to be built around them, given contract amounts. I would say of the four, only Boozer and Williams have been tradeable in the past couple of years, but they were the two producing the most, and the Jazz were in good playoff standing at the trade deadline the last few years, so they wouldn't have been breaking up the core, only wanting to add stuff. Problem with that was monetary, and the the Jazz couldn't afford to add salary.
So the Jazz made two good moves, one salary, one asset building, while keeping the core.
