What's new

I really don't miss Deron that much...

He hasn't watched a game recently and thought he misses Deron. He watches them without that thought in his mind.

Wasn't that hard.

I honestly didn't see this interpetation until you just pointed it out. Your point now makes sense to me Marty. I'm sure you'll sleep better tonight knowing that.

I edited my original post just for you! You realize you were the only one that didn't understand what I was saying though, right? :p

I made the call that AK would be more like the AK of old after Sloan and Deron left, before it came to be. He has been playing with much more energy. Yeah I know that for the money he makes he should have played hard all along, but when you feel disrespected it can effect your play without your understanding why. He is playing free and loose. He would be a good resign, and I still say AK's agent and O'Conner have already arrived at a figure for his resigning. That is why AK was not moved at the trade deadline.
The other part of it is that nobody would be willing to make the hard cut when they are not regularly rewarded with the ball. Watch AK's cuts these days. He's totally energized because he's being involved in the offense.

The whole team is moving more fluidly on offense.
Deron tended to hold the ball more and dance, even if teammates are open after their cuts. Eventually early cutters figure out they ain't gettin' the ball and the cuts get lazier and lazier 'til everyone ends up standing and watching Deron dance.
Devin is actually trying to get into the paint, which tends to create more jump shots for his teammates as defenders sag into the middle. If defenders don't sag, Devin goes to the hoop for a layup.

In business we always say that for every customer complaint you hear there are at least 20 of the same complaint that you don't. I'm not sure if it's true or not in this case, but I'm going to assume that it is so that I don't have to admit to being a dork.

I'm sorry but this stuff pisses me off. Brewer shoots over 50% - and anyone who thinks that Williams was pissed he was traded for the reasons stated here are so mistaken. Yeah, it's tough to see a buddy get traded - but what pisses someone off who's trying to lead a team to a championship is when NOTHING is gotten back in return that's going to help get to that championship. Same with the Maynor trade - you had the Jazz giving away contributing assests for NOTHING that would help them the current season or the next - - or the next. Given the front office's history with draft picks during his tenure in Utah, I imagine Deron figured either they'd draft another worthless stiff or get someone decent that they'd trade away.

anyhow, I can't decide whether or not I miss Deron with the Jazz. I still try to follow him (I'll always be grateful for what he and his Illini teammates did during the 03/04 and 04/05 seasons - - and the wonderful support he's continued to show to the University of Illinois) so now I have to try to watch the Nets as well as the Jazz. But I was very disappointed in the team's (Jazz) lack of progress this season, and it does seem (in spite of the run of losses) that they're showing signs of becoming an exciting team to watch again, and a team of players who enjoy what they're doing.

Well, that's your take. My take is that Deron pushed the last several years to keep his buddies on the team and was upset when any of them got traded. Well before this year I felt like Deron cared more about builing a team of friends than being on a team of winners. I question his heart and his leadership. We'll see what happens when he gets some real players on his team that he has to share teh spolight with. I could very well be wrong, this is just my impression.

Oh, and he was an *** when I went to the STH meet the players autograph party. I was so excited to "meet" him and get his autograph only to have him roll his eyes at me then look sideways with a disinterested look on his face. I felt like punching the guy. He was very friendly and engaging with the almost legal hotties in front of me, though.

Never get in line behind the hotties. It's a no win situation. You would have rolled your eyes at any guy who replaced them, too. If you were him, who would you rather be talking to?

Or they couldn't get anything of value for his absurdly large contract since they weren't going to take longterm salary. If they have a figure worked out already, then he could have been extended.

I think he sets a poor example and is nothing resembling a leader. Considering that and that he's not getting younger on a team that definitely will be, I hope he's gone.

Amen.

Again, I didn't realize it was such a grave mistake. Please forgive me. If you can.

This thread shows distinct evidence of a Jazz fan base in denial. Perhaps the Jazz really did have to pull the trigger to trade D-Will this early, but any belief that the Jazz aren't a significantly worse team now and in at least the foreseeable the future without D-Will is, IMHO, whistling past the graveyard.

I understand the impulse to try to look on the bright side, but I mean . . . c'mon, really?

At the possibility of sounding like a hack, I have to say it: Drink some paint thinner and cut your wrists. Thanks.
