What's new

I was in Europe for almost two months

Nice, I don't know a lot of Leonard Cohen but I love "The Stranger Song"

Drink any good beer in England? Timothy Taylor Landlord, for instance.

Probably my favourite Cohen song, too. The line "Please understand, I never had a secret chart to get me to the heart of this or any other matter" is possibly the greatest single line in popular music.

And I'm not a fan of beer. More of a cider guy, and boy, do the British have a selection. But never mind the light stuff, I love the hard liquor and this trip was something else. From the scotch, to eastern Europe's legendary plum brandy, I sampled so much stuff. The only beer I had was in Brussels. I was told I was not allowed to leave the city without having a pint.

Jim, are we gonna finally watch a Jazz game together? Or are you gonna bail on my *** like usual?

That's how we roll in Canada.

Anyway, seriously, any important Jazz developments I missed? Except for some Scottish rapper wearing a Hayward top?

I should be in Edmonton later this year to see a friend. We could catch a game. Said friend is also a girl, 26, hot, eastern European, single, and a UofA student. Just sayin'.

Let's see, the only woman I loved on the trip was the one that came with me. Went to Bosnia, Croatia, Belgium, England, and Scotland. Highlight was probably seeing Leonard Cohen play until after 1AM here:

And of course this

The club is East Stirling. 4th level. 132 years old. Owned by the Supporters Trust these days. Amazing experience. Everyone involved in the administrative side of the club volunteers their time. The GM has Parkinson's and a full-time job outside the club. Puts 30-40 hours a week in, regardless. I should probably write a whole thing about this experience in Off-Topic forum.
Wonderful.

Oh, and the Rangers FC got punted down three divisions because they devised a scheme to pay players' wages out of the pension fund. Ripped Her Majesty's Revenue Service out of tens of millions of dollars of taxes as a result.
Hmm, hadn't heard that, thanks for the explaining.

This is so cool man! Taking a part in Scottish soccer must be like a dream to many people from Europe or countries that involve in pro soccer. Please don't take too long with that thread.

Figures.

Also, if I remember correctly, Stirling is a place of a major battle in the history of Scotland.

Well, if you've ever seen the movie Braveheart, then you'd know about the Battle of Stirling. ;)

My uncle seems to believe that we're related to actual William Wallace the movie is based on. Freedoooooom!!

Go Jazz!

Wow cool man you must be some ballzy family :D

I remembered it from the William Wallace campaign of Age of Empires 2. The movie wasn't too much of a kicker to me. I really like Mel Gibson. But I had better medieval movies that got me in it.

Well, he's not the only famous figure in our family, put it that way. We're a pretty fearless bunch, I must say. However, we're also very friendly, yet tough and take care of our own.

What's funny is that when I was visiting in the Bay Area, a random lady asked me if I was Scottish? Haha. I guess I must have a slight accent. :)

Braveheart was a great movie. Of course, the music the best part. ;) But yeah, there are some other great medieval movies out there. What's your favs? You can pm me if you don't want everyone to know.
