I wish the media would STFU about the New York JEST already

All I hear is JEST this and JEST that. A worthless 9-7 team that lucked into a favorable schedule against a Colts team with nothing to play for last season only to be creamed by them several weeks later in a game that actually mattered for both teams. No more Thomas Jones, who was a beast for them. Overrated Rex Ryan who can't back up his smack talk against the Dolphins. Kris Jenkins, who is about the size of four littleb's. Dolphins don't need Jason taylor, Cameron Wake is a MONSTER.

Now I get to hear about Revis for the next few weeks. Yes, Darelle Revis, the man who got burned by Ted Ginn Jr. Speaking of that douche (Ginn), he burned the JEST special teams too. Hahahhaha.

But the BIGGEST reason why the JETS will fall way below expectations is Dirty Sanchez. He is already the most overrated QB in the NFL and certain to lead the NFL in interceptions this season if he plays at least 12 games. Too bad for the JEST that Favre didn't stay.

Jets are getting a lot of pub cuz they made a lot of noise in the off-season. And they let the film crews in.

Whether that translates into success is yet to be seen but it's easy to understand the attention.
 
Jets will finish 3rd in the AFC East. Book it.

-They're not better than the Pats
-Henne will prove to be the better NFL QB over Sanchez
-Ronnie and Ricky are a better tandem than Shonn Greene and a washed up L. Thomlinson (cannot believe they let Thomas Jones walk)
-The Miami O-line is quickly becoming one of the best O-lines in the NFL behind Jake Long and Co
-Dansby improves Miami's LB Corps by leaps and bounds, plus Shawn Smith and V. Davis will start to become lock-down corners in their 2nd season
-Brandon Marshall is a freak and is a better player than any player the Jets have on their roster, regardless of position

I could keep going but I'll just let the season play itself out. Meanwhile, the loudmouth Jet coach can keep running his mouth and the entire NY Jet franchise can continue to be an over-hyped publicity machine.....
 
Jets will be 8-8 this year in large part due to the departure of Jones and Washington in the backfield as well as a sophomore slump by Sanchez.
 
Revis is probably the best cover corner in the NFL right now.

Other than that, I agree with everything the OP said. The Jets were not that good of a team last year. They fell *** backwards into the playoffs. It's amazing what happens when you're handed a win in the NFL. Before they "beat" The Colts late in the season, Rex Ryan was crying in post game press conferences and Sanchez was a hair away from being benched for Kellen Clemens.

In the end it doesn't matter. Over the years The Jets franchise has found more ways to **** things up than other any team in professional sports. No matter who their personnel is, they always find ways to come up short.

Now that I can agree with.
 
I get all the coverage for the Revis situation that could really effect their team this season but they really don't have anybody to blame but themselves. Due to the circus they created by having all the high profile players come in thus showing they'd spend money, except it seems to have alienated some of their current players. As well as all the media attention the players they brought in bring, their HC Ryan loves the spot light and to top it off they're doing the HBO thing.... they brought this all on themselves.
 
You are all delusional and are just hat'n cuz the Jets are taking advantage of the new cap rules, and devouring talent. They are trying to propel themselves to be the Yankees of the NFL. Although their running game has probably weakened and is probably not the best in the NFL anymore, it is still top 10, because Shonne Greene has shown he can compete with the big boys, in the playoffs no less, and I'm not ready to give up on Ladanian. His legs haven't given out on him yet, he may be a step slower, but he doesn't have the injuries which ruin a RB's career as they head into their last years, and since he's gonna be splitting snaps, the pressure is lifted from him being the man.

However they should still be the best (at least at the top) defense. Rex Ryan's gameplan is essentially a new defensive scheme, that would probably be the equivalent of when the dolphins introduced the wildcat. When it doesn't work or stops working or gets broken it can turn the tides of games (see AFC championship), but when it does work it's almost unstoppable (see the previous AFC playoff games).

The newly rev'd up passing game is what I'm most excited to see this year. They have 4 solid receivers in holmes, edwards, cotchery, and Coles, and periphery weapons like Clemons and Tomlinson. Although Sanchez isn't football jesus yet, those options being available to him, if he doesn't flat out suck this year, could be a second line of defense when the defense gets broken, turning the team from a skin and bones defensive force to a juggernaut high flying offense, where the goal is to outscore the other team.

I see 1st place in the division, or a tie for 1st. Patriots aren't elite anymore, and I don't see the Dolphins doing anything extraordinary.

Sanchez will never be anything more than a mediocre NFL QB. The hype thrown at him from the major networks is laughable. While I love Shonn Greene, let's see him complete his first full season as "the man" before we annoint him as anything more than a nice player. LT is indeed done and I think that will be proven yet again this year. Just too many miles put on him during his prime in San Diego. If you think he's going to bounce back, I think you're crazy. In the NFL, after RB's sustain as much wear and tear as LT has, they never go back up the hill again. It's all down hill from here. You can bet your *** that come November/December people will be talking about what a huge mistake letting Thomas Jones go was.

Yes, their bread and butter is still their defense, but it's certainly not a immovable force. For all of the crazy blitzing Ryan does, their sack total from 2009 was pretty meager. Plus, the more agressive you are, the more you expose yourself in the back-end. With Brandon Marshall now in Miami and Wes Welker reportedly being ready for the start of the season (thus freeing up Randy Moss again), the Jets better hope they can get to the QB better than they did in '09.

Overall, in 2009 Sanchez had the #1 rushing game and #1 defense to help prop him up. NY will have to duplicate those efforts just to keep Sanchez's head above water and continue to mask his weaknesses. That's alot to ask of a team and sooner or later, the bubble is going to burst and burst big-time.

Do you have any idea what you're talking about? The chances of the Jets propelling themselves to Yankees status is laughable. Their is no cap for this year and this year only as of now. Great the Jets can sign guys now. Then once a cap is back in place (quite possibly next year), have fun cutting guys and sucking. Just ask the Cowboys once the cap began in 1994. Revis is holding out now and rightfully so. Mangold is unhappy now and rightfully so. It's only a matter of time before Shonn Greene wants a new contract. And hell, even with the money he got paid as unproven rookie, Mark Sanchez will probably demand big qb money if he even sniffs the second round of the playoffs in the next couple years. So yeah, good luck trying to retain all that talent once the cap comes back. The Jets decided to gobble up, through semi-overpaying, tier two and three (and nine in jason Taylor's case) free agents and it will bite them in the ***.

Injuries don't end RB's careers generally. Mileage does. LT has plenty.

Coles may very likely be cut once Holmes returns.

I think they signed LT more as a tutor for Greene than anything else. Teach him the ropes of being a star RB in the league. Greene shows real promise.
I'm pumped as all hell for this season to see what the Jets can do.

I didn't realize the lack there of of a cap might not be permanant.

For the record... Jets are not my favorite team... I'm not a homer. I'm a bandwagon fan who has renewed his fan license for a second season. I'm still behind the cardinals all the way. i just like the jets, I like how they play, I love Rex Ryan, I love USC quarterbacks. They are like the Warriors for me. If my favorite team isn't on, I'll watch them play, because it's entertaining, it's nice to have a fall back.
 
Jets, schmets, the rest of the league better watch it. After that super bowl loss, Petyon Manning is no more. The league will bow under the rule of the iron fist of Darth Manning!

Scouts Inc. analyst Matt Williamson provides some of my favorite observations about the game. His evaluations are not only educated, but he delivers them in an insightful way.

That's why I wanted to share thoughts he expressed on Chad Henne versus Mark Sanchez in Wednesday's edition of Training Camp Chatter Live, the seemingly eternal chat on ESPN.com.

Williamson's breakdown was triggered by a question of whose future he liked better, an answer that should be no surprise to frequent visitors to the AFC East blog. Williamson and I have debated this a few times.

"Henne. By far. Not even close," Williamson replied. "Would rather have him for this season and certainly for the long term. Way better skills. Way better arm. Love his toughness. Henne is about to be a star. Haven't seen anything from Sanchez yet to indicate the same thing.

"Sanchez is the reason that I won't pick NYJ as a playoff team this year."

Chat moderator Steve Fox, sensing a strong riff ahead, prodded Williamson about why Sanchez doesn't measure up to Henne.

"Doesn't have close to the physical tools," Williamson said. "Henne can drop back, stand strong in the pocket, stare down a heavy rush as he goes through his progressions and make any throw asked of him.

"Sanchez's arm will never allow him to do that, especially in the weather late in the season for the Jets in that area of the country. Sanchez may develop into an efficient and accurate guy who can keep an offense moving with quick throws and designed QB movement, but he will never be that true thrower.

"Henne will threaten the defense at every level and will be much more difficult to prepare for. Shows the toughness to deliver the ball and the guts to try the tough throw. He can be my QB any time. And he is just a puppy -- as is Sanchez, granted."

Williamson added if the Indianapolis Colts had stuck with their starters in the penultimate regular-season game, then the Jets likely wouldn't have gone to the postseason, and we'd be viewing Sanchez much differently.

Valid point there, but that doesn't mean Sanchez's postseason experience didn't happen. He did go 2-1 on the road, regardless of how much Jets offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer limited Sanchez's involvement.

"Not even saying it was a fluke," Williamson said in response to a chatter's comment. "But they got a break or two for sure. Plus -- and I did pick NYJ in both of their playoff wins -- but I thought Cincy and San Diego were ideal teams for them to play. Indy isn't. The Jets can't score with teams like Indy. They know it and went out and got a guy like Santonio Holmes. But still, QB is a problem until I see otherwise."
