I was thinking of this, from a few months ago, a telling “joke” by Trump about not letting Stephen Miller’s “true” feelings out in the open.

Miller, the chief architect of Trump’s cruel immigration agenda, is known for his cruel policies, like family separation—as well as rhetoric so rabid that it’s been reasonably
compared to that of Nazi propagandist Joseph Goebbels.
The White House aide has
called the Democratic Party a “domestic extremist organization,”
immigration a “mass invasion of our country,” and
judges who rule against Trump “communist” and “Marxist.” He has suggested
suspending habeas corpus for immigrants and claimed the president has
“plenary authority” to send the National Guard to American cities.

That's no joke. We’re seeing Miller’s idea of a “solution” to the immigrant “invasion”(Miller’s words) playing out in selected cities. And it’s not the media’s fault that we’re allowed to witness snippets of cruelty and chaos. We all have cameras. A militarized police force out of control on our streets. It’s not the people’s fault that they form whistle brigades and stand up for their neighbors. The reality of their neighborhoods has nothing to do with Stephen Miller’s dystopian racist vision of fading Whiteness, nor are American neighborhoods full of Americans that share Miller’s poisonous hatred. They are Americans standing up to say: this is not who we are!
I think anyone could have predicted, that what we’re seeing in selected cities, blue and with large immigrant communities, would result from letting Stephen Miller draw up the blueprint.
