This is what is so incredibly awfully wrong with the NBA. The new season just started, there are 8 games a night, the Pacers are undefeated and Roy Hibbert is averaging over 5 blocks per game....but all of that is lost.....the story is about Stephenson's pending Free agency and how many millions of dollars he will make and how the Pacers won't be able to keep the team together.
Gag me.
No time to enjoy the moment, the fans must be reminded that this is a 'business' not a competition. The NBA has devolved into a daytime soap opera where the drama of the offseason and the spectacle of trades, contracts and draft picks has replaced the draw of good competion of skill and strategy.
Just two weeks into the new season and half the leagues fans are worrying about which one of their 'superstars' is going to leave to where and the other half of the league is busy tanking all over each other to get in line for the next batch of spoiled, over payed, over hyped players. And if you are a Jazz fan you are supposed to do both.
Meanwhile, the basketball becomes more unwatchable every year as the athletes replace basketball players and the refs do their best to keep jersey sells high for a handful of players.
Stern cannot leave fast enough.
