What's new

If the Jazz Start 1-12

Ty will not be fired. Jazz have an attachment to him and if they don't want him they will just let the season play out and not re-sign him.

I wish this wasn't the case but it's the truth.

Something else I was thinking about is how good it is that Dennis is in charge and was brought from the outside. Sloan likes Ty and I don't think Lindsey feels like he will need to keep Ty to please Jerry.

I personally wanted Stevens long ago. Sadly not happening anymore. Next I want Stan Van

Ty Corbin may not be the answer. But Sloan wasn't the asnwer. Not anymore. he himself admitted he didn't have it any more.

If Ty does get canned I hope we see someone new. Fresh break, no Sloan or johnson.

He didn't "have it anymore" when he was dealing with Deron Williams.

He burned out. It happens to everyone. He's had a few years off to recharge - I can see him coaching again, and would be thrilled if it were with us. He's one of the best to ever do it.

If the Jazz were going to fire Corbin, they would have done it last year. He isn't going anywhere...

unless...

Tom Tibb's is fired. Then with how much Lindsey talks about how they are building their team after Chicago's model of defense first, I could see them dumping Corbin for Thibbs.

This.

Yeah, but he's 71, and an 82 game season all over the country (with team performance on your shoulders) is no joke. If we say goodbye to Ty (either fired, or at end of contract) we should look to the future, not the past.

<------Wishes we would've kept Hornacek.

I agree that Corbin is not going anywhere.

How many coaches have even done ten seasons in a row (even across multiple teams)? Sloan quit after 20+, I'm not surprised he needed a break. If he comes back, I'm fine with that.

Going with a Van Gundy is just as much going with the past as going with Sloan would be. I don't see the advantage over Sloan.

Hornacek wasn't even coaching full-time when we put Corbin in as head coach. How were we supposed to keep him?

Gail Miller said it herself in Ty's introductory Press Conference along the lines of: "The last coach was here for 20+ years, here's hoping you'll be with us for a long time to come".

They really really REALLY love Ty. I don't and can't see Ty going anywhere soon.

I think they love stability. They want Ty to be that guy, but if Ty doesn't clearly progress, I can see him gone.

I see no chance of them firing him. With Lindsey running the show, however, I can see them letting Ty go after the season is over.

The Millers loves Ty.

KOC loves Ty.

Malone loves Ty.

Sloan loves Ty.

... Lindsey, not so much. So I think Ty would have to do something really really wrong to be in the bad books and to get fired.

Agreed...to get fired. But to not get extended? All he'd have to do is muck up his rotations when everybody's healthy (sacrifice prime minutes of the core for vet minutes), and not show enough improvement in team defense (last night we looked bad at it).

Great he moved on, good for him. So should the Jazz. I have no desire to go back and repeat the past.

Corbin's not as dumb as you all think.. Sidney Lowe is his top assistant for a reason. He's not going anywhere until the end of the year for that reason alone.
