we will be in the playoffs. we own the tie breaker on the mavs and the lakers. and both those teams are being projected to have a record of 41-41 aswell. do we really want the playoffs. would love to see 4 more jazz games!! but do the cons out way the potential pros?
I think .500 ball is a bit of a pipe dream a this point.

I will root for the Jazz to win each game. If that gets them to the playoffs, so be it.
We have 11 games left so we have to go 6-5 to end the season at .500. With most of those games at home it sounds very doable, but the way the Jazz have played lately doesn't instill much confidence.

My biggest argument against this is I think that getting to the playoffs will give the franchise and coaching a staff a false sense that the team can compete.
I heard an argument that getting Favors 80 more playoff minutes will be worth it in the long run. I don't agree. I think we will see a heavier use of the vets if that happens.
I thought making the playoff last year was worth it because Favors really came alive. I believed at the time, incorrectly, that Favors's playoff performance marked the changing of the guard and that Favors would surely be a starter next year.
Now I believe making the playoffs last year was a waste because we never built on the development momentum Favors had coming out of that. Another Corbin sucks situation.
Maybe, although I think barely getting the 8th seed again wouldn't fool Lindsey at least.
How about comparing apples to apples? If the Lakers also go .500 then they'll make the playoffs.
At any rate, assuming that the Jazz will be proactive about Corbin (and the vets) after making the playoffs is a fool's bet. If I had any faith they would be proactive instead of reactive, I wouldn't currently be the equivalent of a Warrior's fan last year. This is only a waste season if we don't see the Jazz make some real changes this offseason.
I'm a terrible person, I know.
I would hope that it wouldn't but I also agree with Gameface that I thought the way that Favors took charge defensively in last years playoffs would mean that he would at least get more playing time. Instead he has received less this season. I just have a hard time trusting the decision makers for the Jazz right now.
So you vote no to the playoffs then. Is that right?
7 home games and 4 away. I'd be surprised if we DON'T play .500 ball.I think .500 ball is a bit of a pipe dream a this point.
