I fear making the playoffs would be the excuse Greg Miller uses to NOT make changes and NOT have to pay Corbin for sitting at home. The FO could trot out the same-old, injuries...blah, blah...youngsters learning...blah, blah...need time to gel...yadda, yadda. And we'd see Ty again next year with maybe even an effort to re-sign Al or Paul. If both those things happen, I'm done. I don't care if the team wins 20 games next year, as long as they're TRYING to get better. If Utah hired a new coach and he's worse than Corbin (hard to imagine), then I'd be ok with that. At least they took a chance. Staying with Ty and Al or Paul represents stagnation. It would clearly show the Millers ONLY care about just MAKING the playoffs and milking more money from the fan base - not taking shots at building a possible contender.

I sort of feel the same way i do when the weather report says there's going to be a massive snow storm. On the one hand I don't like dealing with the mess, on the other hand I sort of get off on watching everyone else deal with the mess. If the storm is going to be bad I want it to be real bad.
I think I lost track of my analogy, but I generally don't want the Jazz to lose, but since they're not going to win I sort of want them to lose really bad. If the team is unquestionably broke then it will have to be fixed, one way or another.

I think "prime" was a bit of a misnomer. Most players are most of what they'll be by year 3. I don't want to put words in his mouth, but there is a legitimate concern of stunting a player's ceiling by waiting too long to give them a real weight to bear.
I think you mean "until they peak." And we're about to lose Al and Sap (fingers crossed at least Al will be gone) yet we don't fully know what we have to replace them with. It's possible neither player is as good as we're hoping they are and that neither of them reaches the ceiling we hope they'll reach. This year was a very good opportunity, I'd even go so far as to say a critical necessity, to find out something about who they are and base our decisions this off season on what we know. Instead the team seemed more interested in appeasing the playing-time needs of our FA vets. That worries the hell out of me. It makes me wonder if the Jazz are actually interested in keeping both Al and Sap. But even if that's not what they're thinking, being a conservative organization, I fear they are going to want to bring in some big with "veteran leadership" that provides a more known level productivity and plop him in the starting line-up. I mean, if Kanter and Favors are not ready right now then there's no reason to believe they are going to be ready at the beginning of next season, right? And if they aren't the core of the team next year when will they ever become the core of the team? They'll all be ready for new contracts by then and my guess is they'll take a deal somewhere else.

Big men are usually year 4 or even late ones 5.

Prime is considered 26-27 to 30-31. Enes is 20 years old.
Maybe we don't know what they are capable of, but I would hope that the people who spend day in and out evaluating games, practice, and work ethic know what they are capable of.

Where is this written? That's funny, maybe NBA management really thinks this is true. That would explain why so many washed up players are making 10 + million a year.

I was totally right, AL Jefferson is the hope of Jazzkind now. If we want to see play-offs, we have to hope, that he can continue to be productive.
