If we play .500 ball

I heard an argument that getting Favors 80 more playoff minutes will be worth it in the long run. I don't agree. I think we will see a heavier use of the vets if that happens.

I heard the argument that getting big al 144 playoff minutes(or 36mpg) this year would be worth it according to corbin.

I agree with you so I am a turrible person as well. This team needs MAJOR changes from both a player and coaching standpoint.
IAWTP.
I fear making the playoffs would be the excuse Greg Miller uses to NOT make changes and NOT have to pay Corbin for sitting at home. The FO could trot out the same-old, injuries...blah, blah...youngsters learning...blah, blah...need time to gel...yadda, yadda. And we'd see Ty again next year with maybe even an effort to re-sign Al or Paul. If both those things happen, I'm done. I don't care if the team wins 20 games next year, as long as they're TRYING to get better. If Utah hired a new coach and he's worse than Corbin (hard to imagine), then I'd be ok with that. At least they took a chance. Staying with Ty and Al or Paul represents stagnation. It would clearly show the Millers ONLY care about just MAKING the playoffs and milking more money from the fan base - not taking shots at building a possible contender.

Yep, we have the same fear. IAWTP.

I sort of feel the same way i do when the weather report says there's going to be a massive snow storm. On the one hand I don't like dealing with the mess, on the other hand I sort of get off on watching everyone else deal with the mess. If the storm is going to be bad I want it to be real bad.

I think I lost track of my analogy, but I generally don't want the Jazz to lose, but since they're not going to win I sort of want them to lose really bad. If the team is unquestionably broke then it will have to be fixed, one way or another.

I stopped reading when you mentioned getting off...don't want to have that imagery going through my mind.

That said, I'm looking forward to next year. I hope the C4 take the reins. If they don't my Jazz fandom will be put on ice indefinitely. If we don't develop the C4 before they hit their prime and all start needing new contracts then we've missed the window and we're long-term ****ed.

You realize we have 6-7 years before they hit their prime, right?

I think "prime" was a bit of a misnomer. Most players are most of what they'll be by year 3. I don't want to put words in his mouth, but there is a legitimate concern of stunting a player's ceiling by waiting too long to give them a real weight to bear.

I think you mean "until they peak." And we're about to lose Al and Sap (fingers crossed at least Al will be gone) yet we don't fully know what we have to replace them with. It's possible neither player is as good as we're hoping they are and that neither of them reaches the ceiling we hope they'll reach. This year was a very good opportunity, I'd even go so far as to say a critical necessity, to find out something about who they are and base our decisions this off season on what we know. Instead the team seemed more interested in appeasing the playing-time needs of our FA vets. That worries the hell out of me. It makes me wonder if the Jazz are actually interested in keeping both Al and Sap. But even if that's not what they're thinking, being a conservative organization, I fear they are going to want to bring in some big with "veteran leadership" that provides a more known level productivity and plop him in the starting line-up. I mean, if Kanter and Favors are not ready right now then there's no reason to believe they are going to be ready at the beginning of next season, right? And if they aren't the core of the team next year when will they ever become the core of the team? They'll all be ready for new contracts by then and my guess is they'll take a deal somewhere else.

This times 2!!!!!! If we dont start the future movement soon we will loose the opportunity to reap the benifits of it.

For wings and guards, yes.

Big men are usually year 4 or even late ones 5.

Favors - 3
Hayward - 3 (getting minutes)
Kanter 2
Burks 2

Looks like we are on track.

Prime is considered 26-27 to 30-31. Enes is 20 years old.

Maybe we don't know what they are capable of, but I would hope that the people who spend day in and out evaluating games, practice, and work ethic know what they are capable of.

I tried to rep. I will get you another time.

The funny thing is, we have our answer to going .500: START KANTER. From the ESPN article posted here a few pages back a few days ago:

" His wins above replacement for the month would translate to more than 10 for the full season, which would mark him as one of the top 30-35 players in the league"

Start Kanter and Millsap. Bring Al and Favors off the bench. We make the playoffs. It's that simple.

your preaching to the choir.. not you need to go tell the guy who is not at church... then sinner corbin.

If we want to make the play-offs we ALL have to trust and to pray for BIG-AL to compete and win us some games. Why ?

1: He is our primary option on offense and with desire of taking responsibility he will shoot nearly 20 shots per game at this stage.
2: He gets the most touches on our offensiv plays, If we want to win, Al has to be productive.
3: He can defend very well, If he wants to do it. Maybe he is our best low-post defender. He is BIG.

So ALL HEIL BIG-AL
Iam Cakar and I approve this message.

If this is true, I don't want to make the playoffs. If this is true, our lottery position will just get better and better.

Thank you. I'll take credit for providing the ESPN voice on Kanter :o

I was totally right, AL Jefferson is the hope of Jazzkind now. If we want to see play-offs, we have to hope, that he can continue to be productive.
