What's new

I'm officially coming out (I was wrong about Trey Lyles)

I remember Ellis269 and me leading the Turner train around this forum. I'm still bitter the Pacers got him but Lyles is a great pick nonetheless and I'm happy we got him.

I'm hoping his high basketball IQ and increased strength will help Lyles with defense and rebounding. I think he and Exum need to work on their cores. I also think Lyles would play great with Exum because Lyles played excellent fast break basketball during college and his court vision is so good - we haven't properly experienced it yet as Jazz fans.

If DL picks another winner in the draft our bench is going to be much improved with Burks returning next season and having Mack as the 2nd option at PG.

Congratulations on coming out. I know a few gay people. You seem like you'll fit right in with them.

Russell leaked a video of Nick Young admitting to cheating on his girlfriend that he had secretly taped.

There was a longer version where Russell told Young he was filming. So he just looks really stupid in the end, not like a snitch/snake. He also didn't leak it himeself; I think his phone got hacked because it leaked around the same time as his instagram was hacked by some weird music promoter thing.

And on topic, I was wrong about Lyles too. He was a guy I was excited about way before the draft and then cooled on as the draft got closer. I'll gladly eat my crow too.

We're 12th in the NBA in 3 point percentage at 35.5%. We're 17th in attempts per game.

The Warriors are first in both.

After last night, we're now 10th in the league in three point percentage at 35.8%. The Cavs are 9th at the same percentage, persuably, just hundredths of a percentage point higher. The Wiz and Clips are both at 36.0% and within striking distance.

Notable Jazz players' three-point percentages

Neto - 41.1%
Lyles - 39.2%
Ingles - 37.4%
Hood - 36.5%
Hayward - 35.8%

I said it yesterday in some thread. This is my biggest off-season wish. That Hayward and Hood shoot, shoot, shoot and improve their three-point % next season. If those guys, on the volume they shoot, can be above 39%, this team can do legit things. There's a reason the Dubs are on pace to be the best team ever. Great defense (which we have with the return of Exum) and perimeter shooting. Hayward and Hood have to improve in this regard.

Before Burks passed away he was at 39% this year.

Anyone else excited to see what a summer at p3 will do for lyles?
Watching him play defense I feel the main thing lacking is strength. Activity and effort is there.

I'm pretty sure most here have or need to eat crow.

I am completely dumbfounded he could miss the season. I pray every day he comes back.

I admit I hated the Lyles pick. I wanted Turner or Booker instead. When everyone went down with injuries on the Jazz and Lyles got some serious playing time, he slowly turned me into a believer.

If I could ask one favor of everyone on Jazzfanz...kindly refrain from using the Carlos Boozer comparisons please... hearing that name makes me cringe.
