What's new

i'm quite disgusted with the NBA refs tonight turning a blind eye to westbrook's actions.

This thread is every negative stereotype about Jazz fans. Keep crying about the refs while we are up 3-1 in a series.

I don’t think that being up 3-1 equals good officiating.

I think the officiating has been bad and it’s ok to discuss it. We are the better team and okc has been struggling. Series would probably be over already if the officials called it even in game 1 tbh.

I think the officiating has been excellent and overall, if anything, has favored the Jazz.

Reason and logic are not “crying”... you are the one complaining about people here... I’m just laying out facts, history, and reason.

I’m sorry none of this makes sense and I’m not willing to just accept the “it’s a technicality” argument. It isn’t a technicality and RW even violates the reason behind the rule. If they are willing to say the rule is flawed and we are going to try and fix it later that’s cool. This type of thing should not swing a series... but im smart enough to see through the BS and think they should be called on it. It didn’t stop them before and if everyone just accepts it they are giving tacit approval and the league office can go further and further.

This type of technicality has cost a couple teams a chance at a title... I’m simply pointing out inconsistency and saying it may be a symptom of a bigger problem.

Agree with Cy. The rule is designed to stop players from running into a fight from the bench. I wonder if a Jazz player like Ingles or Gobert had been the offender if the letter of the law posters would be insisting the Jazz player be suspended for a game.
They would not have to insist on it because the player would have been suspended. Yeah, they might be crying about how it didn't warrant a suspension, but they would have no real argument to back them up because the rule couldn't possibly be any clearer.

That said, I'm glad they didn't suspend him because it will be more satisfying to beat them with him in, and because they are probably worse with him in. And although I think the rule should be rewritten (imposing a one game suspension for something like this or Stoudamire's play is too much) I definitely think he should have been thrown out of the game. He committed numerous technicals and way more than 6 fouls, but the refs swallowed their whistles because it was Westbrook.

Whoa! Game 6 nearly 100% confirmed.

Kane is just really bad and has a history with Quin... that said he gave KAT the quick hook in that Minny game (another chippy game). Just don’t know that he’s the guy u want officiating a close out game in a physical chippy series. It could go either way with him... he’s just a wild card.

Honestly Ed Malloy is not my favorite but I only was made aware of him because of the Minny radio guy going bat **** crazy on him in hilarious fashion.

I will set the over under at 7 techs tonight.

Super rational and I agree... I’m simply pointing out that this isn’t a gray area... RW effed up and he knows it... go ahead and let him play but don’t insult my intelligence or just don’t have stupid rules. It sucks that he did it with the wrong intentions and the league looks away... while CJ did it to pull a player away took five steps and then went back to the bench and lost $165k... it sucks Phoenix lost a potential championship... so let him play and say we need to fix this... sometimes **** ain’t that hard to fix.

That dude is such a shill for NBA I would not be surprised if somebody one day will punch him in the face.

I do think if you believe in conspiracy theory though the NBA may want the Jazz to win and send PG to resurrect LA.

Maybe this non suspension was a recognition that the league really hosed this team over with two CBA changes.

The rule puts the league in a dumb spot... just change it already.

Win or lose PG is not staying in OKC. That is not a championship level team talent or coaching wise.

I would not like playing with Westbrook or hanging out with him... he seems like a miserable dude. I’d rather hang with Joey English, Rick Curry, DM, and outer dudes... like who is the least likable jazz guy that you wouldn’t want to be friends with?

PG will and should bail... although I’d want to be homies with Steven Adams... I can’t help but like him... I’m sorry.

The officiating in several games has been horrific but it has not favored either team. Game 4 was the worst officiating I have seen in years and I think in general that NBA officials do a good job (other than on traveling calls). All of that being said, Russ clearly broke a rule that has a clearly spelled out consequence and they gave him a pass. It might be the right thing to do but it is indisputable that he was given a pass.
