What's new

In Defense of Corbin

I guess it is a fluke. Against the Clippers they went 1-14 and against the Bobcats they went 4-14. At least those weren't goose eggs.

Since they all start break they've shot 27% from the field. I say it's becoming a trend.

It is becoming a disturbing trend buttttt Earl is not a scorer, never has been, but he was the only PG available. Marvin, he has no excuse to have been playing this bad for this long, he needs to sit, and Foye, well he had a great first half so I think he is just slumping. It happens to everyone. Hopefully Mo can give us a little help tonight.

I see it and still disagree. Here are games I feel a better coach would have made the Jazz win.

@ New Orleans 11/02/12
@ Boston 11/14/12
@ Philly 11/16/12
V. Clips 12/3/12
V. Clips 12/28/12
V. Chicago 02/08/13
V. Boston 02/25/13
@ Milwuakee 03/04/13

That is 8 games. The Jazz record would be 40-20 if they had won those games and the 4th seed. They were all winnable games and a better coach, for this team, could have made the difference.

The Jazz have the talent to be 40-20.

I wish George Karl was our coach...

Stability is getting the Jazz destroyed, absolutely destroyed in the 3rd quarter. Since February the Jazz have been outscored a combined 52 points in 14 games (and average of 3.7 points a game). So when the 4th quarter starts you can damn near guarantee the Jazz should just forfeit the quarter and give the other team 4 points, and lately I really wish the Jazz could just do that. They've only won five 3rd quarter in the last 14 games. But what's far more disturbing to me is that in the last five games the Jazz have not only not won a single 4th quarter, but have given up double digit deficits in three of them (and 8 points to the Hawks). Lately they are getting destroyed, and the common theme is the three jokers who are starting for the Jazz.

You cannot have three subpar players starting for your team. Heck, even two is bad. At least Foye has nights where he can be good. Marv since the new year has been horrid (a whopping 5.5 PPG) and Watson/Tinsley are just terrible in general. The lineup is just crippled, especially when Foye is in a slump.

I have no idea why a starting lineup of Kanter, Favors, Burks, Hayward, and Carroll is feasible. Other than the dumbass "vets get their starts" rule that Ty seems to obey. No other team runs like this. Only the Jazz put their best players on the bench.

Again, I don't see what the disagreement is other than maybe a little comfirmation bias making the youth movement more vocal and confident. Sluming players will always add credibility to an argument, even though you can't project these.

Hayward has surpassed Foye by far at the 2, and Marvin at the 3 in everything but man defense against larger SF's. I think his off the bench role was appropriate last season and this, but it's time to put him back into the starting lineup.

This isn't a George Karl built team. Not enough speed, athleticism, or outside shooting.

Were Kemp and Payton's teams built around that? Serious question.

I hate this idea that every coach is a moron like D'Antoni and needs only certain type of players to be effective.

Good coaches maximize their talent.

I still think he would be able to maximize out talent to a greater extent than Corbin. I am not hating on Corbin when i say that. I think he is a decent coach, but I don't know if Decent wins you a championship. who was the last Decent coach to win a championship anyway. I guess that is hard to say becasue once a coach wins a title, he becomes legit in the eyes of the media.

Doc Rivers.

I still want to see what Corbin will do when this becomes his team. He's been shackled to this point by contracts and bad talent, no point guard, balancing rookie development, and managing the trading book piece by piece rather than maximizing the value of the whole. I can't wait to see the returns on his investing with a growth with stability model. Next year can't come soon enough.

Players win championships. Jackson had Kobe, Jordan, Shaq ... Pop deserves the most credit but he still had Duncan, Robinson, Parker, Ginobli .... Spoelstra has Bosh, Wade, Lebron ... The Pistons were an outleir. A team without a superstar, they showed winning a championship that way is possible, but very very very rare.

That is not what he asked. Answer the question.

it does. Denver has a much better roster than we do, thus the better record. Coaching change doesnt make much difference. I can list as many games as you did that Pop lost that could be called coaching mistakes.

No it does not. You accuse him of talking about the Jazz being top 4 when he does not. When he asks you to show where he did you go off about Denver being better than Utah. That does not answer it at all.

As for the common man neg you did. One of two things happened:

1. You are lying now
or
2. Perhaps you meant Come on man and it autocorrected you to common man.

I am willing to believe you did not intentionally call me a common man. However your negging is childish. I do not need to neg you to disagree with you. I am comfortable enough in my own positions to let you have yours. As for your attack on PKM, well it was directed at quite possibly the worst person on this forum. Perhaps next time you disagree you can act like an adult and explain why.

Good day sir.

I said GOOD DAY.
