tribjazz Jazz's Sloan said Utah has been giving "[crappy]" effort during pick-and-roll defense.

tribjazz Jazz's Sloan didn't buy into Bell's assertion that it's possibly too late in season for Utah to improve pick-and-roll defense.

tribjazz Jazz's Sloan was a little fiery today but very in depth.

tribjazz Jazz will return to season-opening starting lineup of Williams, Bell, Kirilenko, Millsap, Jefferson for first time in four games.

Just thought this was a little interesting and some great news that AK will be back.

Thanks for the heads up...looks like people are starting to question Sloan's decision. Only good can happen from that.

I'm very excited for the return to that lineup. Even though I did not know it was changed (AK was replaced by Hayward due to injury, that's it, right?)

Not if Raja Bell is the ring leader.

Idk...any thought is better than no thought. Although dropping Bell from the starting lineup would help us. But he has been playing ok over the past few games.

tribjazz Jazz's Sloan: "Instead of somebody stepping up and saying, 'Hey, I did a [crappy] job trying to defend the pick-and-roll.' "

Another interesting one. Sounds like hes getting bothered with the team and there demeanor.

And wasn't that the coolest thing the other night, when WIlliams went after Smith. I remember last year (I think) when Booz almost got into a fight and his teammates did nothing. So that was really great to see.

Jerry is all fired up. Hopefully he'll start calling out players by name, then they'll fire a couple of shots back at him. Maybe Jerry will go after one of them like he did Arryo. Would the Matron Miller speak then? Or greg? This is great, if the basketball is bad atleast the drama surrounding the team can be entertaining.

Okay, he's no Messiah, but can someone please tell me why Miles doesn't start ahead of Bell? I know we need some offense off the bench but is it really that difficult to figure out a way to stagger the sub patterns so that there's always a couple good options on the floor?

Or am I wrong here and has Miles sucked just as badly as Bell? Because to my knowledge, he hasn't. Not at all in fact.

Oddly, among our players that primarily play the swing positions (Bell, Miles, AK, Hayward) Bell's True Shooting percentage is not the worst.

Those rankings look like:

1) Andrei Kirilenko (we are constantly told can't shoot, and who is still first on our team in these positions even though he's taken a step back this season)
2) Raja Bell (who benefits from taking almost half his shots from 3)
3) Hayward
4) Miles (who is so inconsistent that even his free throw percentage varies widely from season to season)

Miles looks better because he's substantially more productive in the non-shooting phase of his game, but Miles' shooting percentages are completely dreadful and are on a steady 4 season decline. Not the right direction of improvement for a 23 year old player.

I thought that when Miles started he did a great job like 4ast and 4-5 rebs with 16 pts. I think that Coach needs to put Miles in teh starting line up with Dwill and let Raja role with the 2nd unit. Or just let Bell play lik 15 minutes a game and give the rest to Miles and Evans.

Repped. What about other stats or metrics or other phases of the game? I seem to remember about 15 games in that Miles +/- or adjusted +/- or something was very, very high.

I agree Utah needs Miles to play more. Like 32-35 minutes. And then watch Watson and Evans pick up a few extra minutes.
