Today's interview had some tidbits about analytics, for those of you who (like me) were curious:
https://1280thezone.com/index.php/a...how_dennis_lindsey_utah_jazz_general_manager6

Some takeaways:
* Lindsey looks at the numbers every single day
* Today he spent 2 hours doing that
* He wouldn't say which specific metrics he finds most interesting, but agreed that you've got to be careful because any given stat mislead you
* He's got a guy (working full time?) putting together some sort of analysis system that isn't quite finished

It was several hours ago that I listened to it, so hopefully I'm not misremembering anything.

This is why I don't think we'll be re-signing Jefferson.

This. If the aforementioned is true AND we still re-sign Jefferson then either Lindsey is using the dumbest metrics known to man and is just as dumb, or Miller and KOC are fully running this organization and Lindsey's just an intern. I'd bet Jeff's gone though.

Also, are there metrics on coaching? Can he chart bad decision after bad decision made by Corbin?

Kanter & Favors >>> Fatterson and Shorty Sap

It's obvious. Everyone knows it except the mentally retarded Corbin and our dumb front office.

I missed this on the radio so I appreciated the posting.

I think that the Jazz are in for big changes. In another post I once called Lindsey a droid. I thought he we just going to do what KOC said. All the interviews he'd given up to this point suggested that was what he was up to.

This interview was different. He is more bold, and gives some insight into how he is shaping the Jazz. Some of the changes--He is using advanced metrics, teaching the scouts new things to watch for, says the way the NBA plays is different now than in the 90's, he is changing the Jazz from the inside--doing exactly what so many on this site are calling for. I think we are in for big changes and I think we are going to like it.

Agree. I've been encouraged by Lindsey lately.

Calling is someone retarded is totally gay. Unless you're colored, oriental, or of any other exotic ethnicity. If you're a redneck, or just plain fat, nobody expect anything from you anyway, so it's okay too.
