Does a Trade Involving Mirotic Happen Tomorrow for the Jazz?

I’m very doubtful at this point. After listening to the guy who is in the Bulls market on 1280 last week it sure didn’t sound like anything was close to happening. It sounded even less like they wanted Favors. I don’t think the Mirotic thing isn’t as close to happening as being reported.

I say that the chances of this happening are 725 to 1. Actually I been known to make mistakes... from time to time...
 
No, but maybe later. Jazz aren't going to give up a first, so I imagine the Bulls will wait it out to see if they get the offer they want from somewhere.
 
The following two deals go down:

TRADE 1
Cavs get Favors and Mbah a Moute
Rockets get Shumpert
Jazz get Osman, Frye, Black, Williams, Onuaku, Qi, and Cleveland's 2018 1st

Cavs do it to improve their roster with Favors and Mbah a Moute, shed Shumpert and save a ton of luxury tax $.
Rockets wanted Shumpert in the summer and he'd solidify their playoff roster.
Jazz get Osman, Onuaku, a 1st and bunch of expiring or nonguaranteed contracts.

TRADE 2
Bulls get JoeJ and Cleveland's 2018 1st
Jazz get Mirotic

Bulls waive JoeJ who goes to a contender and get their required first rounder.
Jazz get Mirotic.

Overall, we add Mirotic and Osman without going into the luxury, taking back any ugly contracts or using any draft picks.

All kinds of things are going to happen tomorrow - innumerable - but a trade for Mirotic is not one of them.
 
If the Jazz have reasonable interest in getting him, I expect them to try to keep a poker face a bit. Trading on the day it opens gives up leverage. From my perspective, however, I’d rather just secure the guy. People bring this up a lot during the draft — talking about trading down to possibly take your guy. People say that you shouldn’t play that game and just take your guy with your pick rather than gamble. I feel the same about this.

Does anyone not think this would very soon become the best franchise (non-draft pick) trade since Hornacek, and quite possibly exceeding it? People talk about getting a ‘big 3’ and I think this gives us a solid ‘big 2.5.’
