Is Big Al the worst starting center in the league, defensively?

This is not just me fuming over the past 2 losses, but I just can't think of any center in the league that performs worse on defense than Big Al does. Don't bring up offense, I'm just talking about defense right now and Big Al just does not have it. The biggest problem with Al are pick and rolls but it's more than that. It's the help D, the rotation D, and the position D that are all missing.

True, he is a leader on blocked shots.
But also consider that the Washington Wizards (worst team in the league) are leading in Blocked shots.
Al is also very lucky that there is pretty much only 3-5 centers in the league that have any offensive game to the.

Discuss.
Is there any starting center in the league that might be worse than Al on the defensive end??

Andris Biedrins is worse I think. Al gives you surprise glimpses of D from time to time, Biedrins just sucks all the time. And it's like he knows it too, and his team knows it, and everyone just sorta lives with it because it's the Warriors.

He passes better than any big man we have though....

ooh really?????

millsap is a better passer.

PROBLEM is al has the ball to much because he seems to be crucial to the jazz offense. so when you have the ball more the volume of passes is higher

Like Millsap, I think Al's a bit tired out there. I think both Paul and Al should be getting right around 30 minutes per, or even less when Kanter and Favors are playing well (like tonight).

Al's PnR D and transition D will always be bad (the Harris-Al combo on PnRs is otherworldly), but he was making a concerted effort earlier in the year to play help D, sliding over to draw charges. His man D is fine too, when he has the energy. It's gotta be hard as hell to be surrounded by such god awful perimeter players.

Bagnani is pretty bad on the defensive end. A lot of people tend to criticize Lopez, as well (though he's out now).

Ding ding...now that I remember it, Bagnarni was awful. He's soft. I guess Al has been de-throned
I would give Biedrins the title, but he has really good length
The thing about Lopez is he also has great hieght.
