Or is it an act?

Guarantee his pant size is 10-12 numbers higher than his IQ, which cannot be more than 1-2 ticks over retarded.

He's putting on an act.

Not saying he's "smart" but he's not an idiot.

From what I understand that show is fake as hell. I enjoy it sometimes as sort of a scripted Antiques Road Show, but it's fake as hell.

Hate that show.

Only one of those shows I like is the American Pickers because the dudes actually have decent personalities and are likeable. The other shows just seem to rely on the characters just being incredibly stupid.

Ditto.

Every person on that show is extremely unlikeable.

You ever see their female book expert? She's got a sexy sly grin that makes me think she gets freaky.

She's not at all unlikable.

I haven't actually.

I only see the show when I'm at my friends house who records every episode.

I did see some ad saying they had a girl working there or something.

Hate all the pawn shows, american picker shows, auto mechanic shop shows, how its made show, etc etc.

Not the girl that works there, they picked her up from a strip club. I'm talking about a nerdy book expert who owns her own antique book store and comes on the show when they need info about an old book.

The guy is constantly high. I like the show for the actual negotiations and the items that are brought in. They need to cut out the scripted fake dialogue crap in between.

I remember reading somewhere that he was grad student at UNLV or something. That wouldn't make him smart, but at least smart enough to be a grad student at UNLV.

The negotiations are fake, the items are supplied by the producers, it's all fake.

link?

Because I knew a guy that was on the show. He brought in the item to sale and the producers liked it so they asked him if he could return a few days later when they would be filming and try and sell the item to Rick.

+1

When I first started watching it a few years ago, there was no fake stuff in between. It was much better that way.

I didn't thoroughly vet this link, but it's a start.

If they have legit items brought in then they get as much mileage out of it as they can, I'm sure. But the problem with most of these reality shows is that they don't have time to just hang out and wait for cool **** to happen. They have the crew for a certain amount of time and they need to utilize them. So, if enough organic content doesn't materialize they manufacture content. It ain't like they're going to not make a show because no one brought in any cool stuff this week.

Would be more work to completely stage it than it would be to set aside people who come in with interesting items and have them come back when the cameras or rollin.

Except for the times when the whole thing is staged...
