Is Jeremy Evans About To Go Up in Smoke?

Face it. The team is stinking right now and he's doing viscious pine. The coaches aren't letting him get close to the action. I can see him being gone next year either through being waived in training camp or not signed.

Seems that way doesn't it.Think he's been given a raw deal. howard going down didn't change his status as bench warmer.

Not really a raw deal for a guy that no one thought would be drafted.

I'm not sure why he hasn't been given as many or more chances to play the 3 than Carrol has, but apparently the organization and the coaches don't take Evans seriously as a player. And frankly, they're right in that general appraisal. He certainly doesn't deserve any of the not-enough-minutes in the big rotation, and he's probably not a 3 as much as he probably should be.

But the Jazz will probably extend the QO and keep Evans unless they have a reason not to (the only reason would be as a personal favor to Evans or the Jazz are going after something in free agency). In the right situation, I think Evans could be useful for a team. That team probably isn't the Jazz, though. But ONE MILLION DOLLARS is not a lot of money, teams need a minimum amount of bodies, and teams need to pay salary to a certain extent.

My crystal ball says Evans is here next year.

I don't get it.

I like Jeremy Evans.

He may have his limitations(jump shot, dribble) but he makes up for it in other areas. He has some elite skill sets. The guy plays above the rim as high as anyone in the league. The guy can rebound, block shots, and get dunks. Every time he gets in the game he produces something. And he gets something very early too. He also adds a lot of energy to the team. He may be too skinny for a 4 and not coordinated enough for a three but he is a weapon. Whatever he is works.

I also think there is some potential there too. I think he works on his shot and probably is pretty good. He has a nice shooting stroke. I think he just hasnt been given much of a chance to show it. I think he should get more playing time. I will be sad to see him go.

how is it a raw deal? he's the fifth best big on the team, and there are enough minutes to play 4 of them. it's too bad because by all accounts, he's a great kid. but it's obvious that he has to work on his body if he's going to see minutes in this league.

no one's saying to play him at the 4 and take minutes away from favors and kanter

our weakest position right now is the 3, just don't see why we haven't experimented with it

He actually exhibits very, very little skill in his game. He jumps really high and plays with energy. The second a team scouts for him, he becomes a liability. He cannot guard a >230-pound chair. If he's going to be a rotation player, it's as a 3, but he hasn't shown the range or the lateral quickness (which surprises me) to be one to this point.

I agree with Prodigy that there's room to experiment him at the 3. Carrol has generally been a non-factor.

I'd be willing to try Evans at the 3, Im guessing Corbin and his staff have decided it's not good though. Carroll sucks, so I don't see how Evans could be that much worse.

Evans can't dribble, he can't shoot. He can't pass the ball. He as ZERO skills that would allow him to play the 3.

I'm surprised that people are saying Carroll sucks. Actually, he's surprised me that he's as good as he is. And there is no doubt he has a lot more skills than Evans.

Evans can jump high and dunk, but little else. His outside shot looks ok but it doesn't seem reliable. He certainly can block shots when he's in the right position, but he doesn't have the instinct to block shots like AK, for instance.

there's no way jeremy evans is a 3 in the NBA. just no way. his ONLY chance of being in the NBA 5 years from now is if he hits the weight room and adds 20-30 lbs.

Combination of not having enough minutes at SF/PF and KOC wanting to resign him on the cheap. If Evans publicly cried he wanted more minutes, like Raja, he would get them. Evans is just too much of a nice guy and is getting taken advantage of.

it has nothing to do with him being nice. there are 96 minutes at the PF and C spots, and jeremy evans is playing behind 4 guys who are better than him. he can cry publicly if that will help, but there aren't minutes for him right now.

there's not a team in the league that WIDENS its rotation as the postseason approaches. which means right now EVERY team has deep bench guys that understand that they are unlikely to see much court time. sad, but this isn't church ball, not everybody gets to play.

How hard can it be to learn how to shoot , dribble or pass?
Evans can jump and touch the sky, you can't teach that.
