Is KOC saving us from ourselves?

Because of how he traded away DWill w/o anyone seeing it coming, I think KOC is the smartest guy in the room..

If he held onto DWill, this season would've been Dwight Howard-esque w/ the media...

Which package would you guys preferred?

A) Felton / Gallinari / Chandler / Mozgov / 1st in '14 = Raja/CJ probably included
----- starting Felton / Hayward / Gallo / Millsap / Jefferson (Chandler)
(Favors & Kanter vs Gallo & Chandler, doubt KOC wouldve resigns both RFAs)

B) KMart / Scola / Odom / Dragic / NYK 1st = Memo & Bell/CJ probably included
----- starting Dragic / KMart / Odom / Scola / Jefferson (Millsap / Hayward)
(older team that would be no better than a 7th seed & a LT contract w/ Scola)

C) Gordon / MoWill / Aminu / MIN 1st = swapped MoWill for Kaman
----- starting MoWill / Gordon / Hayward / Millsap / Jefferson
(Favors & Kanter vs Gordon & Aminu, where Gordon has durability concerns)

D) Harris / Favors / Kanter / GSW 1st *protected
(Harris for either Felton/MoWill/Dragic is a wash, team got younger, & didnt acquire LT contracts)

There will be no trade at all. I promise you all that. My home teacher told me last night.

The only reason I would want anyone moved is so that Corbin would hopefully be in a position that would require that he plays the young guys more. If Corbin was already giving each one a minimum of 20 min a game and Hayward getting 30+ then I would be happy to see all of those vets still on the team.

Corbin is hurting the future of the team by relying too much on the vets to do everything and not giving the young guys enough opportunities to grow.
This.
Also, trades won't really start happening until after March 1st. I'd be most interested in seeing Howard and Bell moved. That would open up minutes for Burks. I don't think there's much of a market for Big Al, not unless Utah accepts a big contract in return. I guess if we got back expirings + decent picks that would be okay. And the same for Harris. Just get rid of his contract so the Jazz have cap space in the summer.

The Jazz are set to have way more cap space and better FA options (extensions pending, of course) in 2013. If the Jazz trade these guys for non-longterm players, they'd be better off trading for players whose contracts expire in 2013. Sucks for the fans for one more year, but creates a lot more flexibility longterm.

this.

This is why I've become the biggest proponent of a Jefferson+filler for Kevin Martin+filler swap. Good for us now. Good for us in the future.

I keep hearing crys to trade Al, Harris, etc. ASAP.
Is it possible that KOC sees the possibility of us trading them away mid-March for a decent pg/outside presence. At that point the Jazz take a couple of weeks to gain some chemestry before going on a winning streak late.
Point being... If that happens we end the season 7th or 8th seed in playoffs, lose early and lose our draft pick.
If we wait until the end of the season to make our moves in tandem with the draft we keep our pick and are in a better position to set ourselves up for next fall.

Is there any value in being patient?

I just read this nine times and still don't get why you would trade a broken Ferrari for a fresh underwater shower with youth and a post-rookie bill chasing you around after you try to skirt it in order to manage your lower-middle class allowance.

I'm not going to harp about any trades not made until the deadline passes, even though it's painfully obvious to me one needs to be made.

A lot of players are not tradeable until March 1. Therefore we should see a good amount of trades between then and March 15th. I think there is a very good chance of course we will make at least a minor trade. One big questions is will anybody take Harris and his nearly 10 million next year.

I actually really like Tinsley over Harris. I wouldn't mind trading for a draft pick or two, now or during the draft, for Harris and then just get a young PG with a pass-first mentality to develop behind Watson and Tinsley. If he's good then he'll push those two for the starting spot eventually. Both Watson and Tinsley are good defenders. Harris is good at staying with his man but doesn't harrass them like Watson does.

At any rate, yes, I think trading for future growth is something we don't have at the PG position. All three are pretty old, compared to NBA standards.

Do we really have recent evidence that Tinsley is a good defender?

As I recall, all we have is one game with major minutes where he was pwned when on D.

I agree that he should be playing more, and I am shocked repeatedly that Harris gets to stay out there for so long, especially when he is being underwhelming on both ends of the floor, but it is yet to be shown that Tinsley should be out there for his defense. He would likely run the offense better, but then again, so would pretty much anyone.
