Differing opinion. Alts do nothing that regular posters can't. If someone wants to only post jokes or be outlandish then post that way.

No use for alts in my eyes.

They build a reputation and a character as their original post. Then they create little side characters that are funnily crazy. And they avoid their reputation and posting routine get to interrupted. Many of the succesful alts would not feel so good if their posts were posted by a certain poster's original account we know for a long time. It also brings fresh face excitement of some level. I'm sure even Jason has came to the edge of creating some new ones just for fun if he haven't already.
